HRA 329: Wrap-up

April 4, 2012
That's all for today!

It was nice to have my son Tim home from Brown last week for his spring break. He was working on creating a text browser for one of his computer science courses, which was kind of cool. I got to tell him about the olden days when I was first online and all we had to use was text-based browsers like Lynx. Of course, back then (early '90s) web pages were created with very simple HTML so they rendered fine in the browser. His browser really can't render most of today's web pages because they have too many other things going on besides text. But it sounds like a cool project nonetheless, and I think he was impressed that I was familiar with that sort of browser!
