Calendar for Long-tail SEO

May 27, 2009
Hi Jill,

We want to put a calendar of events on our website. Google Calendar appears to be a great product but since it is not hosted on our website the long-tail SEO value (which is one of the main reasons we want to do the calendar) is lost.

Is there a robust calendar product available (at the little to no cost a small business can afford) that can be hosted on our site?

My initial thought is that, because the main reason you want this calendar is for SEO purposes, then it's not a good idea to do it at all. Search engines should never be the driving factor for adding something to your website because when it is, it's rarely done correctly.

If you believe that having this calendar on your website will truly be beneficial to your website visitors, then I'd suggest reviewing this Google search where you should find a wide variety of crawler-friendly HTML calendars that can be added to your site.
