To go along with this week's article I asked my social media followers:
++How have you changed the way you optimize content in the wake of all the Google Panda/Penguin updates?++
Here's how they responded:
Sourabh Madhav Rana: Yes, I changed the content.
John Mills: Haven't changed at all since I was already using white hat optimisation techniques that have proven to be successful both before and after Panda/Pengion.
Dianna Huff: Much less anxiety re: keywords and more about marketing / calls-to-action / having great info.
Bob Gladstein: I haven't changed anything really, but I have more ammunition to use when I express the importance of cleaning up some nasty stuff that was done before I was hired.
Kalena Jordan: More focus on adding fresh content and integrating / cross-promoting social content. Also being super careful to avoid over-optimization of anchor text.
Bill Bean: I think the only real difference has been an increased emphasis on the need for the content to be robust (aka not thin). Also, a de-emphasis on exact keyword usage (re: think semantically).
