QUOTE
If you have the Google Toolbar installed, all toolbar queries are handled through toolbarqueries.google.com. If you modify the hosts file on your PC to point all toolbar queries through the specific IP address of 216.239.53.99 then you will see the updated PageRank because it hasn't been specifically released to everyone who uses the Google Toolbar.

Google always updates the PR on one specific IP address (probably for testing purposes) and then they later they release the updated PR on the rest of their IP addresses. The Toolbar Queries doesn't always point to the IP address that has the update. By including the IP address in your hosts file you will see the updated PR in your toolbar.

If you do not see a update yet that is why.

From your browser…Tools->Internet Options->Connections->LAN settings->check use proxy and paste 216.239.53.99 in the box.

Go to the site you want to check. Now look at your Google toolbar. Note: Your page may not display but the bar will be right. Hover your mouse over the bar for the number.

After you are done clear it back out so you can surf as normal.

I just checked my sites and I am happy.

Finally the E-business industry got alive again (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I predict there is going to be pretty huge turnaround in buying/selling links.

What exactly does that do. I saw a simular post at IHY but said to add 216.239.53.99 to a host file. I followed your suggestion and did not see any difference from just going to the site with the tool bar turned on.

Hi Nik,

QUOTE
OK, what port?

None, leave that blank. (explanation deleted)

Again you may not be able to see your site, or the site you are checking, all you are doing is forcing your browser to go thru a specific proxy server altering your IP address.

Or just go through a 3rd party checker like this or this

Hi Connie,

If it looks the same to you then you are in an area where toolbarqueries.google.com already has the updated information. Where I am (Wisconsin) at 9:30PM on Wednesday Oct 6 it’s still not updated. My below site that did not launch until after the last google update so the PR# was 0. Going thru the apove IP Iget the updated number.

UPDATE 9:48. at 9:30 I still had to use the specific IP. I just checked again and now I can get my PR via the Google toolbar with no proxy server in my area.

UPDATE #2 I had made some additions to a site on September 26th. The additional pages at that site are still 0. It would seem the actual internal update that is now being shown on the toolbar was from pages cached before September 26th. I don’t have an exact date but I think pages I added about September 14th are included, so there is your window of time. That matched up pretty close to observations mentioned at this forum about Google being very active in its spidering.

Yah know this entire message string is going to upset Jill so I have said enough on the subject and am going to get back to making my site better.
Please dont hate me Jill (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/crossfingers.gif)
