Hi,
I would like to know more about the Q-factor that search sites make for a site. When submitting your site the Q-factor may be shown as 5, or anywhere from 0 to 10. What are the details behind how this factor is calculated? Say you get a factor of 5. What does it actually say about your site ranking? Sincerely, Geir Ivar Jørgensen [URL removed, please create a signature.] This post has been edited by Jill: May 22 2004, 02:36 PM |

...I was wondering...
Or is this a new grey-hat SEO technique where you get interdimensional omnipotent beings to gix your pagerank? (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

I recently got a reply from a search engine, after having submitted my page.
Amongst other info it stated a Q of 5 for my site. This is the factor I am asking about. What is it? How do I use it? Sincerely, Geir Ivar Jørgensen |

Hi Geirjo
If we were on a bicycling forum I could tell you all about the Q Factor and how changing it might help your revolutions per minute or increase your comfort zone. But, we are not. More than likely the SE that reported a Q Factor was refering to their *quality rating* and terming it the *Q Factor*. JMO |

Silly me! - and I thought it was something to do with those rides at DisneyWorld and how long you had to wait...
Geir - please let us have more info - eg. name of search engine - and we'll happily look into it for you. Oh, and welcome to the forum, Geir - as you can see, we have a bit of fun around here too! BrianR |

This is the factor I am asking about. What is it? How do I use it? I'd say that the search engine in question is pulling your leg, or you are pulling ours. Email them back and ask them what it is, because it's nothing that any of the major search engines use. What search engine sent you this mail? Are you sure it wasn't just some spam email from an unprofessional seo company? Jill |
