Split from this thread.

I'm not here to be nasty.

You want proof? Well I suppose you can't get it now, but 3 days ago I was #4 for nigritude ultramarine with one page only. This is out of 17000 pages.

I've remained in the top 10 the entire time. Actually, I just added 2 more pages yesterday and now I'm around #6.

Nonetheless, trust me, you can rank high with one page if you know what you're doing. Content means nothing where keyword anchors are so powerful.

Ohh, and you're welcome (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/mf_tongue.gif)

Content is not king. Keyword anchors are king.

Hexed: I see content as a way of achieving that. Unless you have truely good quality content, you will not get much 1 way links from sites of good reputation and authority. Also keyword anchors get you traffic, but need the content to make that traffic stick around on your site and increase the average time spent on the site. As someone on this forum had said that ,make sure you deserve to rank in top 10, beofre you aim for that, just piggybacking on SE algorithm tweaking will not last in the long term.

I looked it up on google and here is what I found:
Two organizations, Dark Blue and Search Guild, are sponsoring a competition related to web site search optimization. The contest has two goals. The first is to place a website in the number one position on Google for the phrase "nigritude ultramarine".

The phrase was selected because it produced no results when entered into the Google search engine. Using a phrase with no previous search results also prevents the contest from interfering normal Google operations.

Interesting... (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Ahhh that explains why anyone would want to rank highly for a phrase no one searches on, and why our buddy hexed was here and being nasty.

Cya, hexed.

Hmnn.. nigritude ultramarine.

Some people say you should bold nigritude ultramarine and others say you should italicize nigritude ultramarine and others will even tell you to underline nigritude ultramarine in order to rank well.

You could add nigritude ultramarine to headings and add nigritude ultramarine to links and repeat nigritude ultramarine on the page a lot. Then get links with nigritude ultramarine in them.

When you aren't running a contest about nigritude ultramarine and you really want people who are looking for nigritude ultramarine to find your page, you want to actually do some marketing with nigritude ultramarine to find PEOPLE who want to buy nigritude ultramarine. Sometimes it helps to become a resource on nigritude ultramarine or offer a complementary product to nigritude ultramarine or even start an informative newsletter on nigritude ultramarine for nigritude ultramarine users.

But then some people just keyword stuff nigritude ultramarine into their pages... (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/mf_tongue.gif)

Yeah, and then you end up with Google entries like
CODE
Nigritude Ultramarine - nigritude ultramarine
Nigritude Ultramarine Products and Nigritude Ultramarine Services provided for Nigritude Ultramarine customers. ... Nigritude Ultramarine. ...
www.nigritude-ultramarine-nigritude-ultramarine.com/ nigritude-ultramarine/nigritude-ultramarine.html
which I can not see ANYONE choosing if they want that information.

Funny thing is it's currently #38 in G. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/lol.gif)

Isn't that crazy? I mean if you want to rank well for nigritude ultramarine, your best tactic is to build a great site about nigritude ultramarine and not just repeat nigritude ultramarine over and over like this:

nigritude ultramarine nigritude ultramarine nigritude ultramarine nigritude ultramarine

or say:

This is for the search engines:nigritude ultramarine is what we sell. buy nigritude ultramarine from us.

Or make slightly hidden text like this:

We like nigritude ultramarine. We sell nigritude ultramarine. nigritude ultramarine is cool. If you want nigritude ultramarine, call us for nigritude ultramarine.

That's just silly... (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

But if the results keep changing, how can there ever be a winner? Is there a time limit for the contest?

It lasts for 2 months, according to this Slashdot Nigritude Ultramarine thread that ranks at #10 for the term, currently.

Interesting- the current #1 result has 31 internal links of the 37 showing (only 6 are external) and a total of 42 reported. PR5. A search for the url as a term (not links) shows a total of 85 occurrances.

The #2 result tried to install something on my machine... (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/eek.gif)

Yes there are 2 deadlines for it, One is June 7th and the other is July 7th,

The competition runs from the 7th of May to the 7th of July.

QUOTE
The Player prize goes to the page that is ranked #1, one month after the competition commences. They will receive an Apple Mini iPod™ valued at $249 shipped to them within 72 hours of judging.

The Stayer prize goes to the page that has the #1 ranking on the 1st of July. They will receive a Sony Flat Screen Monitor valued at $549 shipped to them within 72 hours of judging.

More information here: http://www.darkblue.com/seochallenge/

Prizes are not too fancy but it is a lot of fun (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) , One of our site was in Rank 11 till yesterday but got booted after the google data reshuffle, Should be back tomorrow around the same rank (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ,

the competition started only on May 7th so it is difficult to tell what their backlink is, Should be visible in the next backlink update, I know One site has about 50,000 links and couple of other all 1000s of links, Some top link Specialists are in the competition,

Just one question in all this, when I read about this competition a week or two back, i thought #1 where? Please don't say #1 on Google as , as we all know there are many simultaneous but different#1 sites at any given time.

SO what datacentre are they using? what time of day, and where are they searching from? all of these could skew their results.

Couple of questions though, Why is the current top site not using a keyword rich domain? why, (if links are everything), does this site only show 42 links? AND why are all the sites not 'sandboxed' as they are all obviously new sites?

All too much for me, I gave up having pissing competitions when I discovered girls!
