Hi I have made a home page on tripod (dominicsp.tripod.com), with just a few lines of content and my photograph. Over the past few days I've seen the page rank soaring and now its reached PR 5. howz that possible

Secondly i would like to know how to increase my PR. My company website has a PR of 5 from the last 1 year though I have increased my links considerably

#1 - It is only a PR4
#2 - That is some pretty specific text linked to some fairly specific information. A PR4 can be done with 1 or 2 links, no probs.
#3 - Google PR is fairly bouncy at present. I wouldn't rely upon it much at the moment...actually I just wouldn't rely upon it at all.

IMO you are making pages for the SE's in an attempt to build the PR of some other sites???

I just checked the PR of my page again its PR 5 and I was trying to understand how this PR stuff works, i just built this page with a few backlinks and then in a matter of weeks it soared up to 5.

My question is why is it soooo difficult to increase your PR from 5 to 6

It's probable that you're simply seeing a "ghost PageRank" which isn't real. It's just a guesstimate based on the other pages on the Tripod domain.

it all depend on where it link from, since one link from high pr (pr 6) edu site
it is quit quick

1.very nice job
2.
#1 It is pr5 now
#2 image/banner link also help
#3 It is stable now, can confirm with all google datacenter
3.it all depend on where it link from, since one link from high pr (pr 6) edu site
it is quick
4.very simple, read on
5.by use site:dominicsp.tripod.com, it is index by google , not ghost.

there only two links to this pages

#1 opensource.mit.edu/research_directory.php

#2 c2.com/cgi/wiki?RecentVisitors

pr link
#1 6 292 pr(1)=10^6/292=3424
#2 4 74 pr(2)=10^4/74=135

135/3424=4% it mean #2 only help 4%, you can drop it but still get pr5, btw now #1 now only has 286 links, 292 come from google cached page. all you care what Google see not what you see now.

just my 1.5 cents

BTW from all info above, you could have single page web site but with pr 10, if you have to do pr 10 page single link to you.

just my 0.5 cents

Base above conversation I put my conclusion for every one review.

say you have have site which has few hundred pages, without any any inbound links just by internal links, the home page or few more pages will receive pr2-pr3, with dmoz.org and yahoo directory submit home page will have 1 or 2 more points say now you have pr4 but you would like go for pr5, all you need one pr6 page with one hundred outbound links and link back to you, or or ten pr5 page with ten outbound links and link back to you. I think the first case is much easy. say few months passed the pr6 page's owner put additional one hundred links on the pages, now you get inflated. but don't worry, all you need to do just kindly ask owner add one more link into his links group then you will receive same vote score. same thing is happen from pr5 to pr6, or up. It sound easy, but....

Dominic, I have figured it out! It's just too obvious.

It's your photograph. You look like Omar Sherif.

Handsome (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/fork_off.gif)

No fair, no fair. How can all of us poor little SEO nerds possibly compete with that? (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/cry_smile.gif)

This is impossible.

A site with no inbound links will have no PR at all because it needs links to get a PR.

How would a site with no links get into the index in the first place? It would need at least one link to it in order for it to get spidered.

before your question get answer. let us first ask ourself what is maximin pr score under the sun? answer is 4,285,199,774 and pr is 10 plus. ( Google is displayed that at the its home page.
ok now we can touch raw meat. say we have 500 pages site, the maximun pr score will be 500. we make two pages have high maximin pr score, home page and product page, home page has 200 and product page has 150 then rest of page has 150/498=0.3. now home page has pr 3 and product page has pr 3 as well.
