Hi High Rankers,
Is there any way to automatically switch on Overture ads at a certain hour and then turn them off automatcially at a different hour EVERY DAY? I've searched the net and couldn't find any relevant info so far and figured some of you might have an idea whether its even possible...I do know Overture doesn't have any such scheduler...I'm wondering if any of the bid management companys have such an option. Thanks in advance, Bhavani |

Check out gotoast.com, and try running a search for:
pay per click dayparting to find more information. |

I think the Did-it.com programs also give you that ability.

Overture has opened up the API that Did-It and GoToast use and will allow access to smaller companies. So you can join the program and then write your own scripts to turn things on/off.
Don't have the details just yet, but we're planning an article on this soon and will be interviewing folks at Ov. |

GoToast has the ability to modify your bid pricing based on day and time of day, as well as shut down campaigns when you want.
It's all about how much control you really need vs. how much you want to pay for the convenience of not doing it manually and being stuck at your desk (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/Whip.gif) all day, every day managing your bids... Thanks High Rankers!
I signed up with Go Toasts 14 day free trial and also sent an email to Did-It enquiring about the same. Thanks again for the suggestions... Bhavani |

Hi High Rankers,
I've followed through & signed up with Go Toast a few days back after reading your suggestions. Spent several hours trying to figure out how to turn ads on and off...Couldn't figure out... So called em...I Just got off the phone with their support staff. There is NO way to automatiically switch ads on and off every day using Go Toast interface. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Following up with Did-it.com in the meantime. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks again, Bhavani |

AtlasOnePoint (used to be GoToast?) lets you adjust keyword bid and rank by time of day. In effect that means you can daypart by dropping keywords to very low values at different times of day. See atlasonepoint.com/bidmanager/bidmanager5.aspx
I have not used this tool, I'm only quoting their website. I don't find anything at did-it.com that discusses dayparting. [Haystack: active URLs removed.] This post has been edited by Haystack: Mar 31 2005, 12:42 PM |

Did-It is expensive, and if you are going to spend that much money, I would say skip them and go right to Efficient Frontier! They are great and one of the head haunchos came from a high ranking position at Overture.

Try Dynamic Bidmaximizer Overture. It enables you to specify what time on a specific day of the week to make your ad offline.

How about a service that will do the same for Google Adwords? Anything out there?

I have also been looking for something to manage my AdWords by day and time. I checked out Gotoast.com - now atlasonepoint.com - and found that their BidManager does give you the ability to set day and time.
Here is the page link atlasonepoint.com/bidManager/bidmanager5.aspx Here is what it says: Daily-Bid Adjustment - Adjust the keyword bid based on time of day. Daily-Rank Adjustment - Adjust the keyword rank based on time of day. Multiple Day-Bid Adjustment - Adjust the keyword bid during a specified time frame for two or more consecutive days. Multiple Day-Rank Adjustment - Adjust the keyword ranks during a specified time frame for two or more consecutive days. Variable Day-Bid Adjustment - Adjust the keyword bid according to your custom day and time schedule. Variable Day-Rank Adjustment - Adjust the keyword rank according to your custom day and time schedule. I posted this question in the SEW forums and the AdWords rep told me this: "I wanted to make one other small point, that's worth considering when running only during certain times of the day - and which may apply to a greater or lesser degree, depending on the business: There is always the chance that (for example) someone may click on your ad in the evening, but not be ready to buy. Then, next day at lunch, they decide to buy while they have a free half hour. So they go to Google, do the same keyword search, look for your ad, and don't see it. They may wait around - and try again a few times during the day to see if they can find your ad again. Or, just as likely, they'll click on a competitor's ad and buy from them instead. Looking at the same problem from a different angle, I have one other suggestion which will help your ads show more consistently for the entire 24 hour day: Since a campaign's daily budget supports all the keywords in that campaign, the fewer keywords you have the more often they'll show for a given budget. In light of this, it's therefore a good practice to only keep really useful keywords in your account, and be ruthless in getting rid of poorly performing keywords. If a keyword is not bringing you the results you want, then get rid of it. Then, your ad will show more often over the course of the 24 hour day, for the keywords that really matter." As Arothman pointed out to me via email, there's one problem in using Iopus with Overture: The entry key to the system which requires a human to read.
So, Iopus can probably automatically make all the dayparting changes you need, but you'll have to log in manually to run Iopus. An alternative would be BidRank, which has dayparting features and is relatively affordable. |
