[I've merged our two similar topics together, so if things seem a bit choppy in the thread, that's why! - Jill]

I was checking a client's rankings on G and saw a whole different looking Google. Subsequent searches didn't return this interface.

I saved the source code so you can see the look Google is testing.

Hurray! Somebody else is seeing it too! I'm the only in my office with that google redesigned serp. So I'm not crazy! (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) I saw it yesterday and haven't seen anybody else with it yet.

Just noticed this afternoon [at least here in Australia] that Google has a distinct difference in the way its interface is displayed.

Anybody else seeing a change? (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/naughty.gif)

Looks different here in the UK as well.

It looks like they're trying to get 'more' towards the top of the page, with the most noticeable difference being the way the adwords are being displayed.

Don't know if it's a coincidence, but Google isn't displaying the categories from the directory at the top of the page or with the individual results - but that might jsut be a temporary thing.

Morning, We did discuss this a few weeks back when they were testing it, also the DOMZ stuff is referred to here http://www.highrankings.com/forum/index.ph...?showtopic=4521 together with a link to an announcement with regard Google downgrading DMOZ.

Interestingly I am not seeing any change in ranking at all.

This implies if there is a change in the importance of Dmoz it has already happened.

I am a bit alarmed about the way AdWords results have been cordoned off. Bad, bad blue line! I also kind of liked the boxes around the ads (also not there anymore), they seemed to likewise draw a bit of attention. We have about 5,000 products on our web site, and for the ones that don't do well in organic search, we depend on Adwords for sales.

We noticed a drop in our adwords sales over the weekend. I hope it isn't because people aren't as enticed to click on the new AdWords listings. I know that by the look of the new interface, I myself would not be as tempted.

What do others think about the new format? Am I being paranoid, or does AdWords really seem less prevalent in search results?

Thanks,
Sarah

Try selecting the more option.

There is now a Google Linux search and a few others I have not seen before

It's just showing up for me too. Saw it last night. I think it's finally hit the streets all over the place now.

Watch for those adwords to grow into the left side of the page over time....

I'm getting new Google in my Mozilla browser and old Google in my IE browser. Which version you get depends on your cookie. It looks like Google is slowly and cautiously rolling out this new interface.

I don't like it! Especially the AdWords.

Cheers

I see the new look in both Mozilla, and IE. I will be very very interested to see what happens with Adwords CTRs. I guess if they go down for everyone, the only loser will be Google. And I would be floored if they haven't tested this beforehand.

Yes its here too, Seeing it from today morning, One extra feature, Searched words get highlighted in the URL when the words are in the site URL, which comes down to the understanding google can parse words in URLs clearly,

Also it should be that they give some weight to the words in URLs for ranking purposes,

I don't want to reignite an old fire, but I noticed that Google is also highlighting key words in URLs and page names, as well as in the titles and snippets. The highlighting is a little weird, though. Search terms in page names and URLs are bolded, but not highlighted unless they're separated by a delimiter (such as . or -). Search terms in directory names are not bolded, but are highlighted when alone or delimited. I'm afraid this is going to reignite Jill's "keyword stuffing in titles" headache, but does it portend weighting based on placement of search terms in such places?

Froogle also has a spot at the top of the SERPs, right above the search box.

I have images, but no place to put them at this moment.
