Hi,

I'm a bit confused with the Bing results of late.

I was no.1 for my main keyword, and had been there for quite some time.

Though I went to show a client an example and searched for my term in bing and now i'm not in the top 200?

Was a bit embarrasing to say the least!

Has anyone else noticed a massive shift in Bing results? or is it just me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I've not noticed any changes with my sites @ Bing lately 1dmf. But then again the sites I spot check there are pretty well established, so if they've done an index rebuild or something along those lines I'm not sure I'd notice it.

Hey ho,

It's rather weird , I was nowhere in Google and No.1 in bing (you even saw the screen shot), and I was the same position when it was MSN/Live.

Now my G! ranking seems to have improved dramatically and i'm nowhere in Bing.

I just can't win

Good job it's Friday and nearly beer o'clock (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mf_bounce8.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Beer_Dive.gif)

edit: oh but on the upside my mates site goal conversion ratio keeps going up, it's now

and as that's a real business site, and mines just a hobby, i'm not gonna loose any sleep (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

bing is currently dropping sites and pages like theres no tomorrow (just like MSN always has done)i've noticed this with several sites.. they do come back though in the majority of cases.

Bing is a joke.. the all new search engine, yet behaves exactly the same as MSN and returns the same results.

glad i'm not the only one noticing this pogo-stick effect.

whats really odd, is i'm no.5 (page 1) for the generic keyword, which is the words in my domain and the really highly competetive phrase which i didn't expect to rank high for nor was i under MSN/Live , yet my main keyword i've vanished.

So now i'm top for a real generic term and nowhere for my less generic and targeted keyphrase.

SE's could drive you mad if you let them!

what the hey, think i'll go tweek my title tag just for the hell of it anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

This has been noted elsewhere. The way I see it is this.

Bing was new and probably this is the first time they have updated since launching. The way I see it, the changes are similar to a Google update effect, a reshuffling of rankings. Basically we need to get ready for the Bing Dance.

For years MSN was just static. Now it's going to be fun.

Bing have sent me a little more than a hundred visitors this month, which is not bad for no effort on my part, but still, I got 1 good new link showing up in G and the increase in traffic is more than the total traffic for all the other engines combined - I'm now taking the approach that G is the only one to make any effort/consideration for and the rest is just a bonus.

I've always had a suspicion that G is where my effort is best spent but now I'm convinced and it's going to be my main SEO/SEM philosophy for a while and see how it pans out - of course, I accept that this means it could just be a self fulfilling prophecy!

Ah, there lies my problem, i used to get more visits from MSN than any of the other SE's, this has now changed...

QUOTE
google (organic) 82 29.82%
yahoo (organic) 82 29.82%
bing (organic) 49 17.82%

My site for two consecutive months have lost visitors, GOAN is showing a current drop of 11% , most of which would be my old MSN traffic!

Yet my G! ranks keeps going up, with no effort on my part?

Interestingly enough my holiday website only has one page indexed in Bing and I get Zero traffic, bing seems to be far worse than MSN/Live ever was.

Oh well, lookslike MS have ballsed up again, but what's new!

All in all, there is not a whole lot of data in yet for Bing. Some things have changed and some have stayed the same. Hopefully in the next 6 months we will have some more information to rely on.

I think we have to give Bing some more time to crawl our sites. In one of my site, all my rankings was lost. Right now, it's beginning to pickup.

on one site i just went from being dropped completely two months ago, to being in the top three for around thirty competitve terms, but no doubt next month they'll be gone again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
