MSN ranks you very high on your title exact phrase, so if your site title is "Search Engine Optimization" you have very good chance to be on first page by that keyword.

Question: guys is there any statistic on Google, Yahoo, Msn ranking criterion?

for example something like this

Title importance
Google - 20%
Yahoo - 30%
MSN - 60%

Domain importance
Google - 40%
Yahoo - 40%
MSN - 20%

etc...

No. How could there be since none of us know all of the algorithm for each of the engines? Formulaic SEO just doesn't work.

That said, my experience tells me your Domain Importance examples are way, way, waaaaaaaaay too high. For all of them.

No you don't. If so, then all the thousands of pages that have that in their URL would be on page one at MSN, and since there's no way for that to happen, this isn't true.

Why Is Msn So Easy To Get No.1?

HAHAHAHA! That is what I thought until I moved my sites to another server.

To do well in MSN Live you need to have unique IP address for your domain.

I have quite a number of official web site of celebrities hosted on a dedicated server. These sites were ranked first at MSN Live for "celebrity name" keywords. But after I moved to Dreamhost shared hosting (to take advantage of their big bandwidth offer) that share the IP address with other web sites, the ranking dropped immediately. And one of the official web site is even in page 2 result!

At first I could not find the reason why my ranking dropped. But after I read the search engine patent submitted by Microsoft to USPTO, I found out the reason why my ranking dropped. I do not bother to rectify this mistake as the traffic from MSN Live is insignificant.

MSN's conversion rates do seem to be much better than other search engines from my experiences too, atleast for B2C. My friend's revenue stats look very similar to Randy's where MSN/Live made up a very small percentage of traffic yet is responsible for a significant portion of revenue. I would share my revenue stats as well but I'm not normally one to brag over Randy. Actually I'm mostly kidding (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) it's not that great..

Randy:

I get a lot of direct traffic that converts very high as well for a relatively unknown site, I am thinking this is an analytics flaw in its ability to remember certain repeat visitors, but I'm not sure. Maybe its just word of mouth?

Probably Bill Gates was using MSN Live to shop. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/searchme.gif)

If you are targetting Bill Gates, then MSN Live is the search engine you need to optimize. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lmao.gif)

Don,

I started a new thread for your observation/question. I'm afraid answering it here might start dragging this topic too far astray.
