Hi,
Which industry do you think is the toughest to SEO? Porn, gambling, drugs, sports, hospitality, travel, finance, entertainment, news, religion, etc? I need your opinions because I think I am in one of the toughest industries to SEO but I could be wrong. Is porn/adult industry the toughest to SEO? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/searchme.gif) If you are wondering why I asked about porn industry, the answer is NO, I am not an SEO for porn industry. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/embarrassed.gif) I asked because I saw a lot of spamming done by porn sites. It would be good to know which industry is the most challenging to do SEO so that I could take up this challenge. It would be good for my resume or SEO portfolio. Many thanks for your feedback. |

A better question would be what keywords would be the hardest to rank for?
Since all those areas have sub niches that contain keywords that are easier to rank for then keywords that are well known by the public, like Free Porn or Loans, etc |

Porn you can still pretty much do what you can to rank for vulgar words and news ones come up everyday. Now for gambling and drugs those have to be the toughest because the legality side of things. Acquiring links there is not what it used to be link and the engines have a sharp on the top keywords those two and make sure only "legal" websites show in the SERPs.

It always used to be (as I called it) the three "P"s - Pills, Porn and Poker. Now I would put a couple more up there, finance (insurance, loans, mortgages etc), travel and data recovery. But for these, you can still "pay to play" so have an SEO alternative - the former it is purely down to hard work (or extreme spamming).

How big is the online drug market? Does anyone know? I always wondered about this industry. Seems strange that it's the spammer pet industry. The other two Ps are at least legal and virtual. With online pharmacies: - Are they legal? If not, how do they avoid getting busted? If they are illegal and can avoid getting busted what's to stop them dealing in illegal (as opposed to prescription) drugs. - Who are these crazies buying medicine from spammers? Seems suicidal? What's the incentive? (IE are they selling for cheaper or without prescription etc.?) |

Once you're taking on competitive niches like mentioned above there is money to be made if you get rankings for money making phrases and i doubt if you get a taste of that you'll be working for clients or an employer. But then again you need obtain success to get that far. What looks good for your resume/portfolio since you're not interested to benefit from your own SEO efforts directly, is to show how you've helped businesses increase their traffic from keywords that convert to the action the business in question desires. So that the traffic has a noticeable revenue impact. That is what will make an impression for your future employer/clients. Know what you're doing otherwise don't even do that, you want to help these people you know and not helping them hurting their business. So only do it if you're confident enough about your SEO experience. And i don't think you're experienced enough to take that step, because of the questions you brought forward. Get your own sites up and make some money, if you want a more steady income then work with clients or for an employer. |
