Big vs. smaller content site
Hello, I start a website now, and I plan to keep adding content to my website, or let other webmasters distribute their content on my website. I want to ask a question that the big content site or the smaller one which one is better? The big site, for example: news portal like website, and the smaller like a personal blog. Which one is better for readers and search engine? |

Neither is better for either the search engines or users, at least not because it contains more or less pages.

The site that's most valuable to search engines and users is the one that:

Does article or content must be longer in order to attract search engine?
I had a website indexed thousands of pages on Google, and it ranked 270,000 on Alexa, although I didn't promote it harder because search engine keeps index the articles. So there's a question, the advantage of a big website is able to indexed more pages on Google? U see my article directory has only 18 back links, and it still has 270000 ranked on Alexa, and 5 thousands results related to my website on Google. But it didn't bring me money. I guess I lose my vision of my business in the beginning. So how if my site has fewer content, but I work hard to build backlinks? U know, it's an opposite way to market my site. Would it bring more traffic to my site? |

You're looking at all the wrong metrics jimmychuang. I don't even know where to start with answering that one, because it would require starting at the very beginning.
I suggest you go to the Tips for Newbies section and start there. Because you need to start paying attention to stuff that actually matters. |

alexa has nothing to do with google rankings nor do the number of pages in a site.

Jill, on the 'Tips for Newbies' you link to http://www.highrankings.com/tz-articles, but the website with the individual articles do not open. Is it only me that has this problem with Talentzoo.com?

My first guess would be a page or redirect that went MIA during the site change over Richard.

I think the whole site Talentzoo.com is MIA ... at least when I try to get to it.
Can you access it? Richard |

I noticed last night that it appears they changed all their URLS!
I emailed my contact over there and asked her to let the developers know they messed up big time and to email me if they needed help sorting it out. The site itself was working last night, but perhaps they're trying to fix things now and that's why it's down... |
