How important is to host a site in the same country where your target audience is......example - if we book domain - Sitename.IN, due to think that site needs to be hosted in India only.....whats the harm if I host it in US.........
Please advice.... Wnw |

If your customers are mostly in India, it makes a difference -- both the TLD and the location of the server. Even if users on google.co.in specify "the web" instead of "pages from India," I believe pages from India still get a bit of a boost.

Thanks, you made a valid statement...but point of concern is...then the life for the site owner becomes difficult to manage more than one hosting company.
You have been working with the HCompany and then if you have to look for another one....its indeed a difficult task..... And one more thing you will find that most of the small company in countries like India and Ca and Uk takes a reseller account from any US HCompany so....most of the time....your site gets hosted in US only.... You'll want to review this pinned thread from the International section of the forums Wnw. It's a long one, but Ian goes into quite some detail about the different things that can affect geo-location.
In fact, if I'm not mistaken I believe Ian has also been working on a method that will allow webmasters and seos to make it so that a domain or part of a appears to be hosted in one geographic location, when it's actually hosted somewhere else entirely. |
