Digg's Founder Kevin Rose's another killer-up Pownce has lifted their invite-only status and added a ton of new features. You can send files, links, events and messages to your friends.
You guys could visit www.pownce.com to try it out! |

haha Jill, nice response.
Honestly, I've been a Pownce member since probably day 2 into the beta, and I'm not impressed. My first batch of invites went away like hotcakes, but after that, the appeal dropped. I had 24 invites sitting in my account for the last several months. Nobody seems to want to use Pownce. Twitter just seems to do it better. Ironically, I wrote a blog post touting Pownce as the winner, but after seeing that the community wasn't moving over to Pownce (and finding its usability a bit more confusing), I simply gave up. I used Pownce last week to ask people about a conference and only one person responded and it wasn't even relevant. To me, since nobody has been using Pownce, I guess they had no choice but to take it out of private beta because it wasn't picking up steam. Honestly, I think it won't pick up steam now either. |

somebody explain the appeal of those things, if i want to send my friends a message i'll just email them, if i feel like splashing out i'll text them
facebook, i've never felt so bullied to join a website and when i finally do i couldnt believe how much hype it had got over so little, either i got no friends and just dont get it or it's rubbish |

Thanks for that extra info, Tamar!
I get invites to a whole slew of these things but just ignore them all. There's only so many communities one can truly belong to, and if I'm a member of one, I like to be a real member and participate. So not real interested in any new ones. I have enough trouble keeping up with FaceBook, Sphinn and HRF of course! (Twitter I still haven't quite figured out yet...not sure why everyone seems to like that one.) |
