I'm considering taking the exam and getting qualified as an Adwords Pro. Has anyone been through that? If so, do you have any tips and how would you describe the relationship with Google?

Yep, I've been through it and so have all my PPC staff. Just treat it like any other test - go through all the material, make notes and revise.
Sit it as soon as you're ready. Another approach (not taken by my company, but can be successful) is to sit it early, so you get the feel of the test and the sort of questions that are asked, without having any high expectations. Then sit it again later (you'll have to pay again, of course), when you're ready. |

Thanks Alan. What I'm curious about is how Google works with you on a project or do they do that at all as a Pro?

Google works with my agency ... not specifically with me as an individual Google Advertising Professional. Our individual qualifications allow us to qualify as a company.
The overt benefit to you (or your company) is that you can use it in your marketing materials. Another benefit is that it is a good training course that does allow you to do your job better. The benefit to Google is that better educated users get better results, meaning they are more likely to remain as users. |

You can add free Google credits to new accounts as an Adwords qualified individual.
-This you can either leverage when proposing (always surprising how excited people get about $100) - Or, just add it to accounts in the begining which allows you a small test budget. Since they are not paying for it you don't need to be as careful. its good to determine bid costs. |
