Hi all!

Okay, now i have been teaching myself SEO, and I have to implement it for the company that I am working for. Now, after reading and re-reading so much, I must finally begin, right? So how do I start? First of all, I know that it is important to log EVERYTHING i do, from the keywords i choose, to the dates i submit etc. I just know i have to log everything. But where do i start. is there a ready made template existing somewhere that i can start off with. Please give me a clear, detailed idea of exactly where to start and additional suggestions. How about other things i should know, like the business side of SEO, how to communicate with clients, track their site success after i've started on it etc. I've just read sooooo much and believe me, I keep reading everyday. But for a true newbie to the game of SEO, I just really need to know how to go about wisely and effectively implementing what i have learned. Thank you soooo much.!

This is fairly old, but still pretty relevant for your situation:

Thanks alot,Jill. Another question. I had a performance review today, and addition to SEO, I have to add web developer/administrator to my job title. Can you tell me where i can get some good information on these topics? ie. exactly what they entail, newsletters I can subscribe to etc. Thanks again

Depends upon what they mean by the catch all titles Christelle.

With Web Developer I assume they're referring to knowing HTML and at least basic site creation sctuff. Of course if you use any of the better WYSIWYG editors (Dreamweaver, etc) there's usually not much to know until/unless something breaks. However the Developer title could also include CSS (probably will), JavaScript and any of the various scripting languages (php, asp, coldfusion - depending upon what your servers support). It's pretty open ended.

If you're already creating the site you probably know what you need to know would be my take on this one.

Administrator can mean nothing or a lot. It could mean that you have final say in what actually hits the site if other people are adding content, issuance of internal accounts for those folks, site security, etc, etc. If you run your own servers it could even involved knowing how to keep your server running and keeping it secure. Then again it may not if you've got IT folks who watch over the server(s).

More details on what they expect would be nice. Otherwise you'll likely end up doing a lot of leg work when it's not really required.
