Anybody here ever hear of the end of results penalty? What will happen is you are usually high ranked for a search phrase then all of a sudden there you are over night at the end of results for that search phrase. Other search phrases you will remain consistent throughout all data centers. But its them few phrases that you hit the end of results in all data centers. What ive noticed is that you will come back and go again. Anybody have any suggestions or notice any trends at all in the sites that this happens to?

It's a new variation on the "minus-30 penalty" that I've seen reference to over the past couple of weeks. Some people are calling it the "minus-999 penalty". I am not joking.
I don't know if there is such a penalty. I haven't seen it myself, but maybe it has something to do with Google's new link filter(s). |

Michael you could be right. Over the last 4-6 weeks I have heard about this IBL link filter that Google is applying to various types of websites. I personally have not seen it on one of my websites or found one that is specifically getting effected by it. Meaning I think other parts of the websites owners SEO issues could be causing the demotion besides just filtering out reciprocal, nofollow, poor quality backlinks.
Need more research and reading. |

Even if that's the case, I would think that somebody has to manually set a given page to come up right at #1000 in the results of a given search. I mean, one tweak to it or another page above or below it, one link gained, lost, or discounted, is likely to move the supposedly penalized page to some position other than 1000. And if this is manually set, is it for every search for which a page from the site could possibly come up, based on every word on the site or pointing to it?

It doesnt necessarily bring you to an exact number it just brings you near or at the bottom of your search results that you are in. The trend that I have noticed with all sites hit with the "end of results penalty" "-950 penalty" or whatever you want to call it is that the sites use google sitemaps. As most people know that the sitemap team is going aggressively after spam sites(Over Optimization) Affiliates and so on. I just think the G sitemaps is one way for the plex to have there hold on us. So what I suggest if the -950 penalty hit your site, delete google sitemaps and see what happens. I believe if you delete it you will come back.
BTW its surely not the -30 penalty that I am talking about |

I don't think Google is filtering any "types" of Web sites this time around. It looks to me like a new trust filter that has stripped many pages of their ability to pass value. And as the weeks have rolled by it appears that a cascade effect set in. Each sweep through the Web has combed out more sites because they now lack trusted links, whereas only a few weeks ago they had trusted links (but those links are coming from pages that are no longer trusted).
Perhaps at the beginning of the process Google did actually target one or more "types" of Web sites, but I cannot imagine what they would have been. I've seen no footprint for any such targeting as with pass filters. |

Looks like DigitalGhost over at Threadwatch has gotten to the bottom of this penalty.
It's actually an SSA penalty. If it's happened to you, you probably need to start from scratch and create something meaningful this time around. |

Looks like DigitalGhost over at Threadwatch has gotten to the bottom of this penalty. It's actually an SSA penalty. If it's happened to you, you probably need to start from scratch and create something meaningful this time around. So what your saying is that some site owners who are authority sites in there niche that google has loved for years should just say hey forget it and rebuild. Yeh probably not! They just need to look at some smaller details like there over optimizing, keyword stuffing, link practices and google adsense. Simple clean ups should do it. Not tear down the house and rebuild! BTW for him to say that your site sucks ass thats why your at the end I personally dont think is professional nor worthy to say to someone who has put alot of effort into there site and followed pretty much the mainstream seos for info on how to build and structrue a site. If anything a site should not be put at the bottom of the serps next to some porn site that is not even related at all to there niche. What if this happens to your site does your site then suck ass. Some of these sites have quality unique content if anything that makes there content look duplicate because of people scraping there way up the charts. So I think he needs to rethink his position. Also I can point out several authority sites that will go to the bottom then come right back and did nothing to get there nor did nothing to get back. So I think he is totally wrong! Hes just running his mouth and really has no clue at all whats going on. This post has been edited by JamesDean: Jan 24 2007, 01:47 AM |

JamesDean, he didn't say your site sucks ass. Why are you taking it so personally?
There are plenty of sites out there that the SSA penalty is the most likely answer- one look will tell you that. If it doesn't apply to your site, then he wasn't talking to you. |

Google rarely lists a site at the bottom of the pile unless it sucks ass, so I tend to believe in what was posted over at TW. Unless someone can show me an example of one penalized this way that doesn't suck ass.

If it doesn't apply to your site, then he wasn't talking to you. I know that DG wasnt talking about my site. Duh, but what im saying is that there are plenty of good sites out there that got hit and instead of giving suggestions he just says your site sucks ass. No im not taking it personal because frankly my site doesnt suck ass! Its just I feel bad for some of the people who have built a great site and have been on top forever, "believe me ive seen great sites get hit that dont deserve it by no means" and now there having to let some of there staff go. And you have pricks like dg who couldnt give a damn about anyone but there ego and there big freakin head. Its people like DG WHO DOESNT KNOW CRAP ABOUT SEO then everyone starts saying hey "Its now the SSA penalty because DG said so" Frankly its alot more deeper than your site sucks ass penalty. Google rarely lists a site at the bottom of the pile unless it sucks ass, so I tend to believe in what was posted over at TW. Unless someone can show me an example of one penalized this way that doesn't suck ass. Man I tell ya people must think DG is a freakin god or something. Frankly I think he has a big mouth and should learn what he was taught in school to respect others if he went to school. Oh and I know of a great example. This site has alot of unique content, it is very user friendly, high alexa rank, good quality back links, been ranked on first page for several years, high toolbar page rank, no black hat seo, no spamming the site or links I mean come on people its not your site sucks ass thats why your there penalty. Its alot deeper than that period! |
