I'll just assume this isn't your site, Aaron.
Interesting AdSense ads over there. How does black hat SEO relate to environmentalism and the rights of the disabled? Maybe the directory is cloaking (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

Since it's registered to Aaron, I guess it's safe to assume it's his, and it is tongue and cheek.

I was trying out some of the new directory software.
I remember many people refering bad stuff as black hat thought it would be great to have an obnoxiously large black hat and an upside down one underneath it. I think listing in that directory is a negative more than a possitive. I created it as a fun joke. I actually have never heard of the phrase tounge in cheek before Web reference definition: tounge in cheak where did it come from? its a shame that nobody likes it (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) i guess I will have to change my hat ... |

From http://www.wordorigins.org/
QUOTE Tongue In Cheek
The commonly told tale about this phrase is that it derives from the acting practice of thrusting one's tongue into your cheek to keep from laughing at an inappropriate moment. There is no evidence to support this story or the idea that the phrase originates in the theater. The phrase dates to 1748 when it was fashionable to signal contempt for someone by making a bulge in your cheek with your tongue. By 1842 the phrase had acquired its modern, ironic sense. |

The problem with it, Aaron, imo, is that it's not obviously a joke, and there are many newbie SEOs who will actually think some of the stuff your listing there is GOOD for them to use.
Making it easier for people to find spammy ways of doing things is just not a great idea, I don't think. You wouldn't believe how new/green/dumb some people are... Jill |

Nice find Bob...becoming a fan of yours (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I am going to make my directory a little more obvious. At the top of every page I have now included "Please note that this site is a parody and I do not recommend most of the things I placed in this directory." in red text of those who are in the typical 2% who convert they need to ignore the red text... and the upside down hat at the bottom of the page as well as the vomitory design all together if after all that they still buy something ... then I am only helping them out by speeding up their learning cycle as they were going to get ripped off eventually anyway today I bought "white hat seo," eventually I was planing on having some sort of complimentary site which was the polar opposite to black hat seo ... maybe I could tie them together and cross link them with the upside down hat theme its the internet...as long as its fun...thats all that matters (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Well, me being me, I reckon it's a load of garbage and should be removed. What an insult to professional SEO and forums like this, that are trying to educate people to the rights of the industry, not that rubbish.
Awareness starts somewhere like here! That site is just another in the chain confusing the public. Thats my two cents!!! |
