When did Yahoo switch to displaying Inktomi results? I just noticed this at 11:22 PM on 11/20/03.

Welcome, indepthmedia! (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

What makes you think it's Inktomi?

After all the weird Google stuff lately I decided to check Yahoo to see if they older Google results. I automatically assumed it switched to Inktomi when I noticed the results were completely different but now that I look at more closely it seems to be a mix -- the results in Hot Bot (Inktomi) display very similar results to Yahoo but there are a few differences. When I first looked I noticed the top 3 results were exactly the same between Hotbot and Yahoo and that's when I jumped to my conclusion. But I'm not sure what the mix is just yet.

I am searching for "military gifts" and the most of the listings are all Inktomi the other few I am assuming are Yahoo Directory listings.

The same search in Google ihas completely different results.

Welcome to the forum Al! (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

The results still look the same to me and the "search technology provided by Google" tag is still at the bottom of the page.

Yahoo is still using Google's SEARCH TECHNOLOGY. No Change in that.

the majority of these results can also be found in the CURRENT Inktomi database when searching the same term in Hotbot.

But I gotta get some sleep now so I'll check up on this in the morning and see if the results are still the same.

It appears that Yahoo is showing Inktomi results to some surfers. People have reported that the results match Inktomi Pure Search. What the criteria are for seeing these results is unclear, but enough people have come forward with this that I believe it. Apparently, you may get INK results, but if you go to another PC down the road and search - you will still get Google.

I've not seen any INK results myself - however, the clincher to me? I've seen INK PFI referrals coming from Yahoo to my sites. Not many, not often - but there as clear as clear can be. Testing seems to be gearing up a notch!

Interesting. I'm seeing the "Search Technology provided by Google" footer and a very different set of results from the ones in your screen shots. The results I see also mirror the results I see running the same search on Google.

The results you're seeing do appear to sync with the Inktomi results on Positiontech:
http://search.positiontech.com/InktomiSear...y+gifts&adult=1

Nice find. It will be interesting to see if you stumbled across a test or were one of the first to see Yahoo's transition to Inktomi results.

Yikes. I'm seeing at Position-Tech pure search a description that contains our old LookSmart description plus current on-the-page content. Did I miss something?
