Hello all (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
So here is basic yet important question, should you just use broad match on AdWords? No, but what is the best way to fully optimize your keyword. Yes there are other factors, such as conversion rate, ctr and destination url but I'm focusing just on the keyword. Here's how I look at it: Broad - [phrase - exact] + negative = keyword that’s very targeted. Based on the performance of the different versions (also known as matching option) of keywords I can adjust the CPC; lower the “broad” and “phrase” and keep the “exact” near your Max CPC. Here is the list of matching options (yes, I know we’ve all seen these before) keyword = broad match [keyword] = exact match "keyword" = phrase match -keyword = negative match I also know the purpose of using AdWords also comes into play--trying to generate traffic or create a high ROI, etc. What do you think? Suggestions, disagree, agree... ? (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Good morning from a sunny South Africa,
I must admit that I not 100% sure what your exact question is, but I will try my best. Step 1) select your keywords step 2) come up with all different ways (broad, exact and phrase) step 3) put all in one Adgroup step 4) after a while (this can be 1 day or e.g. 1 month, depending on the trafic) take those keywords out that have a high CTR and put them in a seperate Adgroup. This way you will end up with one Adgroup that has bad performing words and one with good performing words. Where possible you can add the negative keywords to it to increase your CTR I hope this was what you are looking for Richard |

MJiALslOEnR,
Welcome to the forum. Your question is a little broad (no pun intended). It would help if you asked a more specific question. |

I apologize; I was in a rush and didn’t read my question thoroughly. Basically I would like to know if using “Broad - [phrase - exact] + negative = Targeted keyword” method is a good way to adjust the CPC.
QUOTE step 4) after a while (this can be 1 day or e.g. 1 month, depending on the trafic) take those keywords out that have a high CTR and put them in a seperate Adgroup. This way you will end up with one Adgroup that has bad performing words and one with good performing words. RiYo, interesting idea. |

I still can't tell what you're asking, but I think you are trying to ask about embedded match types.
This match type allows you to prevent your ad from appearing in relation to certain phrase or exact matches. An example of this would be if you sold Super Bowl promotional items, you might use the embedded match of a negative and exact match -[Super Bowl] With this option your ads would appear for "Super Bowl memorabilia" but not for the exact match Super Bowl. If that isn't what you're asking, you need to give a real world example because we're not understanding your question. Sorry. |
