I would really appreciate you guys helping to clarify a question that has lingered in my mind for a while....
Is the following classed as Keyword repetition: Brand Paris Hotel, Central Paris Hotel, Unique Paris Hotel, Romantic Paris Hotel, I realize that is is recommended not to repeat a keyword more than three times but does this count? Will the search engine view 'paris hotel' 4 times or does it take the keyword as a whole and not view the above as any repetition? I'd really like your thoughts on this. |

Welcome Traffic_ms! (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)
If you're talking about the Meta keyword tag, it doesn't matter what you do because it won't help/hurt your rankings. Please do a forum search to read the other threads about it. I would advise you to read the Tips for Newbies articles to get a better handle on the things that do indeed help your rankings. Good luck! What is your use for this string of phrases - Title tag? Header? Meta description?
It does look a bit silly but an answer to your question will probably depend on where you plan to use it. |

To me this looks like it would be a title tag.
It doesn't really matter though, it's repetition and doesn't make sense from a usability standpoint. There's no rules as to what you can and can not do, so if you think this sounds ok then go with it. If it was me searching for a hotel in Paris I would not click through to your site because the title looks like SEO spam to me. The only time you see tags like that are when the site has obviously been a victim of an unexperienced SEO. Getting your site to the top is one thing, getting click throughs is another, a successful SEO does both. |

It smacks of desperation and implies a lack of confidence on the site operator's part in the value of their content. It's the old, "If you cannot dazzle them with brilliance, then bury them with (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/dancingcow.gif) (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_images/poo.gif) " strategy.

Hi Guys
Really grateful for you swift response - it's nice to know there are people there to help in a world of conflicting advice. The tag that I was referring to was the Keyword tag yes - 10 out of 10 for those who got that right. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/clapping.gif) I don't know if I'm missing something but I find this tag to still have a good effect with MSN - is it official that the Keyword tag is not worth bothering with? Are there any good articles that anyone can refer me to? To let you have a little more background we are trying to get some small hotel websites to rank well across search engines as they are struggling to compete with huge conglomerates who claim to sell these hotels at great rates. Has any one got any solid SEO advice for beating the big travel sites? Look forward to hearing from you all! |

QUOTE is it official that the Keyword tag is not worth bothering with? Are there any good articles that anyone can refer me to? It's been dead for years, and never had much effect even when it was alive. Read our millions of other keyword meta tag threads here for more info. |

I came across this topic, and it puzzles me as well, assuming the following keywords are used for a title tag, would this be considered spam as well?
1. Ex. political rap lyrics, political rap music, political rap artists, political rap songs 2. Ex. political rap music, free political rap songs, rap music political lyrics Are both examples considered to be spam? I would really like to know what you guys thinks. Thanks in advance. |

The question always becomes, Considered as spam by whom?
I would personally consider them a bit spamish. Some of my relatives who are just normal surfers and aren't involved in SEO or creating web sites wouldn't even notice. Who knows if any of the search engines would raise a red flag. |

Thanks Randy,
I would think they would be considered little spamish by SE, but if the keywords are appropriately used in the context of my copy on the page, would you still say it would be spammy by SE? |

QUOTE 1. Ex. political rap lyrics, political rap music, political rap artists, political rap songs It's not "spam" per se, but repeating any phrase 4 times in a title tag is probably going to hurt more than it helps. But you never know. Try different things and see what works for you. |

QUOTE(Binti @ Feb 8 2006, 08:30 AM) I came across this topic, and it puzzles me as well, assuming the following keywords are used for a title tag, would this be considered spam as well? 1. Ex. political rap lyrics, political rap music, political rap artists, political rap songs Can someone clarify this for me too? I realize that in the above example 'rap' appears 4 times but to remove 'rap' would completely change the meaning. 'political lyrics' is not the same as 'political rap lyrics'. I have a similar situation in that the title for a lot of my pages have three 2 or 3 keyword phrases where one of the keywords is the same. Would a title like: 'rap: political, lyrics, music, artists, songs' have the same results as in example 1. above? |
