In a neighbourhood of Amsterdam they put up a sign yesterday to forbid smoking pot in the streets.

Today the sign was already stolen.

Comment of a civil servant: " Yes, we already thought that this sign might become a collector's item, so we have ordered a whole bunch of them and we'll put up a new one today"

The sign is just too groovy -- note how the smoke forms a sort of yin yang. It's going to get stolen every day (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I want one. I wonder if some will show up on everyone's favorite auction site...

So does "blowverbod" just mean "smoking forbidden," or is it more specific?

I want the top sign.

I could care less what the words on the lower sign says, the top one alone is something I could use to get a message through to several dozen teenagers every year who come over to borrow the pool. It would make a stronger impression simply because they'd have to figure out what it means. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Amsterdam ordered 50 signs so probably 49 will be available sooner or later. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/naughty.gif) (Until they find a good way to fix the sign to the pole.)

But I could also call the production company to inquire for prices etc.

Are there any more people looking for this sign?

I smell business (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/yahoo.gif)

Honestly I think a sign that like would probably sell like hotcakes in North America. I personally wouldn't buy one but I do think the sign is cool, and I know those that chose to smoke would like it.

I know the German for "no smoking" is "rauchen verboten," but I don't know if blow is the Dutch equivalent or if "blow" just means grass. Of course, in the US, blow is somethng altogether different (but it can be smoked too). And I wonder if the word is clinical (the smoking of marijuana cigarettes) or street (toking/getting high).

The funny thing is , blowen is not a real Dutch word!
Actally we borrowed it from the english "to blow, blowing"
And it is the general used word for smoking grass, pot, stuf, marijuana, shlt ( to quote Cheech and Chong:)

Perhaps originated from something like:
"we? smoking drugs ? No way man, we are blowing"

I'm not exactly a member of the youth culture anymore, but I have to say that I have never, not once heard anyone refer to smoking pot as "blowing". As a verb, I only know of two uses: what the wind does, and that other thing.

I checked Ebay but can't find any of those. I showed it to my girlfriend and now that's what she wants for V-day (instead of a new laptop bag). Any ideas where I can buy those suckers?

Flying to Amsterdam just to steal a sign is not a good use of time (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/lol.gif)
