I started a forum just over a year ago and do well in msn and yahoo but usual thing with google and the sandbox nothing very much happening with good rankings so I have decide to see where my pages come on google, but for some reason if I go past page 6 or 7 in the results I get the following:
"We're sorry... ... but we can't process your request right now. A computer virus or spyware application is sending us automated requests, and it appears that your computer or network has been infected. We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your computer is free of viruses and other spurious software. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google" I know this is going to sound stupid but it appears to be only for the phrase I am searching for "psychic forum" I have tried other terms for other sites that I have and its ok it will let me search page after page. Has google realised that seo's are using searches for information and trying to make it harder? |

Do you use any automated rank checking tools tomsk? The only time I've heard of anyone getting that sort of message is when some sort of automated checker has been used and sent through too many requests too often.

No Randy just a straight search on google.com as if I was actually looking for a forum to join.
I do have the google toolbar and wondered if there was some big brother type of thing going on ie why does this guy every know and then search for psychic forum ignore and click through the first six pages fast and not get what he needs he must be checking for something. A bit paranoid perhaps? |

My guess is that someone on your IP (your ISP's IP) is running automated queries.
We have another thread on this from maybe a month ago as well which you may be able to dig up. |

Yeah I was being sarcastic. The only time I have also seen or heard about this message is with automated queries. I have never seen it actually appear from an infected machine.

Well it could certainly be caused by an infected machine if some trojan or something is forcing that machine to run automated queries on Google unbeknownst to the machine owner.

QUOTE(Jill @ Jan 7 2006, 11:55 AM) If my memory serves me right form previous threads only if you continue to run automated queries on a regular basis it would cause a problem? I run three computers via a linksys router so I appear to have one IP address to google, the last time I ran any sought of query software was Aerlis about a month ago. |

No. Any sort of automated queries even if it is fro like 5 minutes can cause Google to temporarily remove the IP from being able to search without the captcha. |

QUOTE If my memory serves me right form previous threads only if you continue to run automated queries on a regular basis it would cause a problem? You have to get them to unblock the IP. Doesn't matter if you don't do it any more. You have to beg for forgiveness and then promise never to do it again. Then you have to let them know what IP you need unblocked and wait until they get around to it. |

Tomsk said he wasn't running automated queries so in this case there is nothing to "contiinue."
As for Tomsk's mention of the Google Tool bar - you may want to consider removing it unless you want to feed Google information on your every move on the Internet. I doubt if it is related to your current problem, but in general, it might be something to think about. |

QUOTE(tomsk @ Jan 7 2006, 01:36 PM) but for some reason if I go past page 6 or 7 in the results I get the following I saw this myself three or four weeks ago when making heavy use of Google. It seemed tied to how frequently I was searching, rather than the search phrase or the depth into the search results. The good news is that's it soon stopped. Try waiting a bit longer between searches.

No, I'm not joking. I don't recall who to contact there, I had to do it about 7 years ago. (But it sounds like this may actually be a Google bug and nothing you were doing, so you might hold off.)
People are using Google's API to check rankings, or simply watching their log files to see where people are coming in from (which is much more valuable info than rankings). |

I've only seen that message once, myself. I deleted my cookies, cleared my cache, and it went away. I don't run automated queries and I was definitely not infected at the time. The message seems to kick in for any number of reasons.
