Hi,

Another one of life's silly questions.

My site has been active for around 3 weeks and it has backlinks that I created from signatures on forums and directories that I swapped links with.

Yet, there hasn't been the slightest sign of a Google Bot even sniffing the site, let alone indexing it and adding it to the SERPS.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi ymgem (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/hi.gif)

Be a little patient since your site has been up for just a few weeks. Definitely it will be indexed soon. You may want to consider submitting your URLs to Google Sitemaps.

Hi ymgem , Google requires time and patience. Keep getting quality incoming links from sites having high PR. You will get success.

Googlebot tends to frequent sites with high PR more often. With inbound links from anything less than a pr4 page you can wait months to get crawled. In my experience, get a link from a PR5, 6 or 7 page (the higher the better) and your site can get crawled in a day or two otherwise you'll just have to be patient.

Also realize that getting spidered is just the first step of the process of getting into the index of each search engine. For Google specifically you should expect that your site is not going to show up for any searches on terms that are even remotely competitive. See our aging delay thread for more info on this.

Welcome ymgem! (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

You've probably got quite a wait ahead of you if you're relying on forum signatures and directory links. Neither of those are given much weight because they're not much of a "vote."

Take your time, make sure your site is up to par and then find people in your target market who like your site, and see if they'll link to you. 3 weeks is certainly waaaaaay too early to be concerned. You probably won't get any significant traffic from your site for many months, if not a whole year!
