I paid for the Yahoo directory a couple years ago and we were accepted. After a year, I decided that the listing wasn't worth the money, so I did not pay for the following year's fee.

Yahoo never removed my link, so I'm getting a free listing. Has this happened to anybody else? Maybe they decided to leave my link, because there are only 13 sites in that category and they don't like to have "thin" categories.

Yes, it's happened often in the past. Even in cats that have plenty of sites listed.

i think maybe it's because it takes more effort to remove it than to leave it alone. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

in that case, maybe they should have a one-time fee, coz that would be unfair to other sites who regularly pay. on the other hand, Yahoo, and other directories should still (at least) try to keep their directories updated as much as possible. IMHO. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

They definitely do remove some sites that stop paying, but they don't always do it right away. It's great when they remove them though, because then the lousy directory description doesn't show in the organic results any more!

I've also noticed that they haven't removed the dead links in my category. I've e-mailed them a couple times informing them of the dead links, but they haven't removed them. Now that Yahoo has gone in so many directions, managing their directory probably isn't very high on their priority list.
