Hi I'm planning to make a site and I'm just wondering if having a free domain name will it affect on my seo?

Free domains do not make a difference for SEO despite what some would say. However, why have a free one and risk your entire site on the ups and downs of the company hosting it. You can't move a free domain, you are there for life. And, if they go pop, change policy, etc, then your up the creek without a paddle.

You can get a domain anme and some basic hosting for £20 a year. You will own the domain, and if the site grows and exceeeds the server you can move it without much trouble. In short you will be the master of your own destiny.

Just my $0.02 anyhow.

Is it possible to use a free domain and have a separate hosting for it?

doubtful, but it depends

It's quite simple really, if you are remotely serious about the project then you will spend the very small amount on registering a domain name.

Hi!

I do agree that free web hosting and free domain names are not the best choices for your web business.

However, it is possible to have a free domain name and a separate web host.

For example, Dot TK offers free domain names but you need to be hosted elsewhere.

Regards,

Stephen :-)
