QUOTE(newbieofseo @ Nov 1 2005, 09:36 AM) I join in several link exchange programs, and I get many inbound link from subpage of other site. These subpage are usually with low page rank. Is is useful for my site page rank? Friend, there are two serious red flags in your question: "link exchange programs" and "page rank". The real question you should be asking (yourself) is: How are you doing in the search results? If you rank well, don't worry about it until your rankings drop. If you don't rank well, then you'd better do something other than (participate in link exchange programs) and (worrying about PageRank). |

Thanks for your answer.
But I do not understand what you said exactly. Someone else tell me that the first thing I should do for enhancing my Page rank is getting reciprocal link. What do you think about it? I am a newbie of SEO. So I hope you can explain it detailly. |

The problem is that enhancing your pagerank is not something you need to concern yourself with. Pagerank enhances itself by creating a great site and getting the word out about it to those who might link to it.
But to answer your question, all links will add to your PageRank. However, who cares? |

Someone told you wrong. The search engines are not looking for reciprocal links, they are looking for links to your site. If they look at whether the links are reciprocated (now or in the future) it would be to devalue them or filter them out of their calculations.
PageRank is a consideration, but it is far from the only one. There are at least a dozen other important considerations that deal more with the search terms you are targeting than any measurable aspect of the website. To make a very broad generalization, any link exchange program that serves as more than an introduction between webmasters interested in exchanging links, probably risks doing more harm than good, at least from what I have seen, unless your SEO skills are advanced enough to pick out the few gems among the gravel. |
