I had a thought while checking some indexed pages for a site... the rss feed appears in Google's index.

While it changes frequently, it does seem that the engines are crawling the RSS feeds and indexing them. They are like a perfect little site map to your new content- a link, a title, a description, and typically a snippet.

I'm thinking of expanding my feeds to contain more entries- sure, they scroll away in a day or two, but I do think it might help the engines find the new articles.

Interesting. Google's indexed my feed, but under the listing (which is just the URL) it says
QUOTE
File Format: Unrecognized - View as HTML
...and the "View as HTML" link brings up a blank page.

Some of the smaller engines have been rendering the RSS feeds into HTML. I've been getting referrals from them. I think they are, actually, GoogleAd spammers just using RSS feeds to build dynamic content.

It doesn't seem to be recognizing the XML formatting, but it is indexed...
