I notice that today Feb 1 the new MSN search has gone live after quite a bit of testing.
They must not have done their testing very well as my site does not seem to rank as well as it does in Google. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I wonder how does MSN rank sites? |

I'm ranking #1 on a phrase I've been trying to rank better in google on for some time. Hurray. Ranking really well on other terms too. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My ranking in Google sucks, but in MSN I'm doing quite well for a lot of phrases and individual products we offer on our site. The key seems to be as Jill preaches here for good seo anywhere -- Content, Content, and more good Content. Keyword density seems to have a significant effect on rankings in the new MSN. Inbound Links don't appear to be as big a factor as Google and Yahoo.
MSN is really focusing more on on-page factors than the other guys and it's showing. |

I also notice same things the ranking of site #1 in msn and not have ranking in google and yahoo even in top 100 and second thing notice the website link found in google and yahoo by "link:www.websitename.com" return link = o but in msn it shows return link = 32,559 and more links are on spamming sites (not have quality links).
I also notice indexing are not fixed its turning site up and down by every interval. Might be MSN still on process to fixed their searching strategy |

I am also ranking very well in MSN on my key words, well, many key words found on my home page.
You need some sites pointing to you so the msn spider can find you but content does seem to be the key to ranking well at MSN. For what it’s worth, I have done some other searching for items that have nothing to do with my site. Just stuff I needed to do including some personal shopping. I found the results at the new MSN to be very relevant. Combine this with a bank account with a gazillion dollars and the other search engines must be concerned. |

I wonder how long will it be before we start seeing commercials on TV about the New Improved MSN Search now that they've removed the beta tag?
I'm thinking within a month. But it wouldn't surprise me in the least if I see one tonight. Or during the Superbowl. |

Commercials soon, I hope. I love new campaigns. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/clapping.gif)
I hope (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/censored.gif) AOL doesn't have any kind of exclusivity wrt Super Bowl...if they do, guess it would be for ISP, not search. I am SO SICK of seeing that (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/censored.gif) AOL guy running amuck during Super Bowl! This year, I guess it will be the lady with her kid. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/puke.gif) (Can you tell, I really, really love AOL. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/lmao.gif) ) Now you got me thinking about commercials, I can't wait till Sunday. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/yahoo.gif) Back on topic, I'm ranking well in MSN, too. Some pages that are nowhere in G and Yahoo are pulling MSN referrals. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup1.gif) Don't know if I really agree with the relevancy, but happy about the traffic. |

I have a client that got banned in the TP scam last year. We have been repairing the sites from the damage. MSN seems to recognize it.
It maybe just the fact that all the sites don't have the backlog of history to deal with. There are 2 year old pages that no longer exist that G and Y have. Those have to be hurting things there. |

The spammers...erm SEOs (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) at Threadwatch seem to feel that all you need to do is Just get links, from wherever is convenient to do well in MSN.

From my limited experience, links don't seem to matter anywhere near as much for MSN. One of my sites in an extremely competitive keyphrase (14 mil+ sites) ranks in the top 10 at MSN with very few IBL's and of course is no where to be found in google. At least in my case on page factors seem to mean much more with MSN |

I'm getting really good ranking on MSN, too, but it makes me nervous. Until now, I've been on top of page one for my primary phrase on Google and Yahoo but nowhere in sight at all on MSN. Now, my site seems to be the only really relevant appearing on MSN! Different pages and directory listings are scattered throughout the fuirst half-dozen page while NONE of the other sites that are offering the same services are listed anywhere in top 50 - sites that rank very well on Google, Yahoo and in the Teoma serps.
Nervous? I'm worried that MSN still has some serious tinkering to do and I'm going to find my site stuck in the boonies again. Wait & see, I guess.... L. |

From my experience, MSN does give a lot of weight to backlinks and anchor text backlinks, So yes spamming works well but it will be only short term, it is bound to change any time with MSN especially with the introduction of the rel=nofollow attribute, Lots of blogs are already upgrading their blogs with the nofollow plugin,
Links are the driving force now in MSN search for highly competitive money phrases from what I have seen, |

Okay guys help me out.
I'm located in the United Kingdom and when I go to www.msn.com I get the MSN UK search. (With an option to tick a box if I 'Only from United Kingdom'). While it was beta I could choose between the US MSN (www.msn.com) and UK MSN (www.msn.co.uk)) and I was getting different results from both - now I can only get the UK MSN as if I go to ww.msn.com it redirects me to the UK version. Without the 'Only from the United Kingdom' box unchecked I would have expected the same results but when I use the search term 'create online surveys' it currently returns our site first - I have a feeling that the results will be different if I was referencing the US database. Could someone confirm this for me one way or the other. |
