That's Great! I thought none of you were going to make it...
I hope to see you there - I am interested in what kind of "new" material will be covered. Maybe we'll bump into each other? Looking forward to it. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup1.gif) - Scott |

Great! Since you all have your pic in here, it should not be too hard to find each other... my images are all over my site - 6'4" and thin (on top too! (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/lol.gif) )
I look forward to it. If you decide to meet somewhere distinct, let me know then I won't miss any of you! - SS |

Guess I'll have to update my pic so you all will recognize me with longer, lighter hair!
Anyone have suggestions for hotel? Whenever I visit I usually stay in NW Subs...used to live in Arlington Heights...so know nothing about downtown hotels. |

Many stay at the conference hotel.
Some, like Scottie, often try Priceline where you can often get a hotel right nearby for a great deal. |

Bobette, you lived in Arlington Heights? I live in Schaumburg... ya know, Woodfield Mall?
Wow, now I am excited... I get to mingle with the High Rankings Gang... Are there drinking requirements? Minimums? Oh my gosh, what will I wear? (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/lol.gif) Priceline is not a bad idea, if there's anything I can do for you ladies, please let me know....? Sounds like fun - even. It was just another seminar up until now. - Scott |

It seems like the Hyatt was the only hotel property right at the seminar, which is definitely the place to be. This is particularly handy at 1-2am or later.
PS: I was born in Oak Park. |

C'mon, PHP. I had a guy come all the way from NZ just for our HR seminar. Certainly you can manage to come for the biggie SES conference!
It looks like out of our moderators, the only ones I haven't met in person yet are: Bobette - will meet in Chicago/Dec. ProjectPHP Chrishirst - gonna come? Robert Clough - He's too shy (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Torka - How 'bout you? Gonna come? Ron Carnell - And you? That's it. Wow! I can't believe I've met all the others. So you guys above, start making your reservations! |

Not sure if I'll make it to Chicago this year or not. I'm so swamped (again!) that it's very difficult to take off a few days to head up. Plus the Chicago SES is always so darned close to Christmas followed immediately by end-of-the-year accounting that I've got to deal with that the timing is a major pain for me.
If I can't make it up for the conference I'll at least try to swing shooting up for a day to say Hi to everbody. Likely in the hotel bar since that's where all of the movers and shakers hang out anyway. (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/lol.gif) Bobette: If you can't get into the Hyatt McCormick Place where the conference is held, they send their overflow to the Hyatt Printers Row. It's a nice hotel and quieter than the McCormick Place. I had them park/store my car last year and took the $5 taxi ride each way every day. The taxi ride will cost you about the same (or less last time I was in Chicago) than driving to and parking your own car at the conference center every day. |

I'm getting excited, too! :hehe:
Scott, we were neighbors! OF COURSE I know Woodfield mall. We lived just up 53/290, in that triangle formed by 53, Palatine, and Rand roads. I LOVE (IMG:http://www.highrankings.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) Priceline. Usually, when I visit Chicago I use Priceline and stay in Itaska for about $35. It's just a few minutes to get to Woodfield and Buffalo Grove (where my friend, Judy lives) and turns out cheaper than going for a hotel in Arlington Heights or Schaumberg. The only thing with using Priceline for a specific event like this is I won't know where it's going to be beforehand. Scottie, how does it work out for you? |

Thanks for the tip, Randy. I like quieter, so maybe I will wait a little while before making reservations, hoping for Printers Row Hyatt. I was waffling between driving up and flying into Midway, then taking the train to McCormick Place. Since I'll want to go to Buffalo Grove, too, that settles it...I'll drive up, park the car and leave it until I'm ready to go to suburbs.
Randy, could you take your work with you? It would be very cool if the Hyatt and/or McCormick Place has a wireless network (anyone know if they do?). You could be disciplined and schedule in work hours. Tim (my other half of 20 years) is thinking about taking off work and coming, too. Ever since we moved back home to St. Louis in 2000, we've talked about doing downtown Chicago to hit the places (aquarium, etc.) that we missed when we lived there. The Magnificant Mile will be all gussied up for Christmas at that time, right? Ed, most times I can't stay up til one or two am, but we'll see what happens.
