OK, I found some threads on Arelis, but weren't exactly asking the question I have.

There are a bunch of software packages on the market for finding link partners. I won't post any URLs, but some of the names are PR Prowler, PR Maximizer, SEO Elite, Affiliate Finder Pro, as well as Arelis.

I'm interested in these for finding / analyzing potential link partners and possibly keeping track of those efforts, NOT for sending generic link requests or building a links page. And no, I'm not expecting to type in a keyword, press a button, and magically get 100s of links to me overnight.

Does anyone here recommend any of these packages (or any I haven't listed)? Are any of them better than doing searches and keeping track of linking efforts with a spreadsheet? If the software saves me a fair amount of time or provides info I can't easily get another way, I'm interested. But most of what I read about these talks more about the concept or importance of getting links, than in what a particular piece of software actually does.

Thanks.

I use Arelis for the tasks you've described. It's a great tool to keep track of the status of link requests, and has some nice reporting features which help explain the concept of link building to clients.
