What type do search engines prefer? Robot.txt or Robot META tags.

if there is no robots meta it will carry on regardless.
both are exclusion protocols for telling the bots NOT to do something

Not only the missing s, but also the capital R. It's robots.txt, not Robots.txt
This can make a difference, depending on your server. e.g. Microsoft servers tend to (incorrectly) treat URL paths as case insensitive, whereas Unix servers treat them as case sensitive.

Makes it a whole lot easier to manage files by just keeping the file names straight and not have to worry about accidentally putting in an upper or lower case letter when naming files and then getting bad links when you type it differently elsewhere when referencing them.
