Hi all, I'm new to the forum, but not to Jill's website. I'd just like to say hello to everyone. This forum is really a wonderful resource!

While you are on the subject of Froogle, does anybody have an opinion on it? Would it be worth the hassle of sending them a feed? I am webmaster for an ecomm site and am wondering if more of our pages would be indexed in the regular Google web search if I sent a feed to Froogle. Do you think Google will go ever go live with Froogle? ;)

Thanks for any info or input you may have.

Mary Beth

p.s. I also noticed on Yahoo shopping today that you can send them feeds as well.

Welcome, Mary Beth! ;)

I split your post from here because I think it is a good topic that deserves its own thread!

There was a guest article recently in my newsletter which also sheds some light on Froogle: Getting Listed on Froogle by Susanne Cluff.

Anyone else here submit (or use) Froogle?

I remember messing with Froogle about 9 months ago or so. They said it was open to all e-commerce sites, so I submitted. About a week later I got a nice little email saying they weren't including travel sites into Froogle at that time. I figured I was SOL, but then I happen to be running some site analysis a few weeks later and found us completely listed. Go figure.

I don't see a bunch of traffic from it, but it was a nice surprise to be included.

I have to admit, I didn't particularly care for the way it was listed, "product" by "product"......but at least they got all of 'em! ;)

Hi Mary Beth,

My last company is an ecommerce site and we wanted to try it out. It did take a long time for everything to get listed, but I assume that was just due to a Google/Froogle overload. This was almost a year ago.

As of a couple months ago, I don't remember seeing huge results, but we didn't mess with it in great detail. I think I'll ask my old employer if he's seen anything since. Nonetheless, it makes you that much more visible and it doesn't take too much time to implement. I would recommend it. Hope this helps,

Paul

Hi everybody,
Thanks for your input I really appreciate it. I've decided that I will submit a feed to Froogle. It's free advertising so what the heck.

Here's a link to Yahoo's Product Submit. It's not free, but probably a good way to promote your products if you have an ecomm site. I, know, I for one, use Yahoo shopping to compare prices all the time, and have ended up buying from their vendors on numerous occasions.

Does anybody think Google might promote Froogle and take it out of beta now that Amazon is challenging them, not to mention Yahoo's new shopping portal...

Just wondering, because I just sent a feed to Froogle a couple of days ago. It's been approved and, according to Froogle, my products should start showing up in a few days.

I have a client whose products are listed in Froogle, but the titles and snippets are not at all appealing. We haven't discussed Froogle as part of the services I'm providing, but it looks like they've got a lot of room for improvement there.

I'm going to have to check with them and see if they're in there because they've been spidered, or they've actually given this information to Froogle via the feed.

If it is a spidered result, the listing will usually show with the vendor name written as www.whateverdomain.com. under the title

If it is a feed, the listing will usually show with the title of the vendor site written instead of the URL.

I noticed that Froogle carried both spidered and the feed listings for my site for a while. Now they carry only the listings I submit via feed.

I see. That means it's spidered. Thanks.

Polarmate,

Have you noticed any hits from Froogle? I'm hoping Google goes full steam ahead with Froogle and it becomes successful. With the majority of surfers using Google these days I think it would be only a matter of time before everybody would be "froogleing."

Hits? Yes. Conversions? None.

I also noticed that we don't show on the first page anymore for the keywords I am optimizing for. The default sort seems to be by price. Which means we're out cos our average sale is over $200.

I plan to take a closer look at Froogle once I am done with my current task. And then play with the feeds. I'll let you know what I find.

We're all waiting for Froogle to come into its own. It's been around for a long time now but thus far there have no compelling results.

And yes, I love Pebbles, too!!

Polarmate,

It would be great if you could keep me posted on Froogle if you hear anything or find anything out. I'll do the same.

Thanks! Mary Beth

Off tangent possibly but not sure where else to post. I never submitted to froogle and they just automatically picked me up: http://froogle.googl...esign vancouver

6th one down is my business.

Here's my concern: The graphic they use to display my business is a graphic of one of the associations I used to belong to. Since having a disagreement with the ethics of this organization I have disassociated myself from them yet somewhere, Froogle picked this logo up to represent my site. I like the fact I am listed in Froogle yet wish the logo they used for my link wasn't this one.

My question is: How does Froogle decide what graphic to display for your listing?
