According to this SEMPO Press Release dated today, SEMPO has appointed 3 new members to its Advisory Board. (Not the regular board.)

The new SEMPO Advisory Board members are Chris LaSala, the Search Engine Marketing Channel Manager at Google; Neg Norton, the President of the Yellow Pages Integrated Media Association, and Safa Rashtchy; a managing director of Piper Jaffray and well known industry analyst.

Bit of a coup there, but I can't help thinking this is meant to be a credibility injection. I hope it works. thumbup1.gif

Well, they could certainly use that!

I think it was also to make up for Danny and Chris S. dropping out of their advisory capacities.

It's very nice to have big names hanging around your organisation...

The members may get a thrill by being associated with them. But as they have nothing in common with the members and have had nil previous dialogue or contact with them, how are they likely to do anything worthwhile for them?

So the same thing applies as always with SEMPO... the organisation tries to make itself look good in the press with people who may get quoted i.e. it's about promoting the people who run the thing and nothing to do with the members... again!

Hey ho.
