Hi folks

I used to be in the index of hotbot, lycos (inktomi sites) but seem to have vanished - even though I am getting spidered daily by the slurp bot!

I was on page#1 for my main keyword last week too! ranting.gif

I paid initially for inclusion but that seems to have vanished now does anyone know anything about this?

Cheers

Lilo

Inktomi stopped their paid inclusion program months ago. You can still pay to get into Altavista or Teoma/Ask Jeeves in the same way, but that won't get you anywhere near the same traffic.

If you want to pay to get into MSN, you'll have to use SiteMatch. That'll also get you into Yahoo, but it's paid inclusion with PPC on top. Can be very expensive, and my advice is don't bother. If you have a budget for SiteMatch, you'd be as well doing regular PPC on Overture or Adwords. At least you're guranteed positions with those. SiteMtach only guarantees inclusion !!

You can still get into Inktomi for free of course (always could) and I think BOW (Best of Web) links are still one of the best methods.

Actually as I understand it, MSN is currently using the Inktomi index which is minus any SiteMatch PFI listings. Of course, soon they will release their own index out of beta and then the Inktomi index will no longer be used. However, I don't think you can currently pay to get into the MSN editorial or organic results.

I am listed in most search engines bar hotbot and lycos... I guess I just need more links!

Msn spideres me everyday... I am in the new index but not the old - yay for the new MSN!

Don't think too many actually use Hotbot and Lycos these days, lilo...I really wouldn't worry about it!

Me neither, so long as you are seeing googlebot, yahoo slurp or inktomi slurp, & MSNbot, in your stats then be happy biggrin.gif

This means that the current 3 and the future MSn are indexing you.

Exactly. I would be way more concerned about seeing google and yahoo crawl you and being listed in their results.
