Full Link Or Partial?
Posted 17 September 2004 - 08:02 PM
My site building software creates internal links like this:
<a href="dog_beds.html">anchor text</a>
I'd have to copy and paste in the full URL if it needs to be that way (or replace text, I suppose). My question is whether it matters from G's perspective in terms of how they pass PR internally. Do they read the above exactly the same as:
<a href="http://www.domain.co...ds.html">anchor text</a> ?
Does it behoove me to make this change to 250+ pages?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks, as always! One follow-up: is there any reason you can think of for absolute vs. relative linking? Any advantage from any perspective (browser compatability, etc.) to use absolute? How about for indexing in the SE's - does it hurt in terms of getting all pages indexed faster if you use relative linking?

Other than that, there's not much reason, although I believe we had a thread about this before where others gave some reasons. They don't really have to do with rankings, just other things, if I remember correctly.
Try doing a forum search for "absolute links" or something like that and see what you find.
