As everyone knows, google uses local domains for each country.
google.com for worldwide and USA
google.com.mx for mexico
google.de for deutschland

etc

I found out, that there is a google.com.ve for Venezuela.
But that google doesn´t search "Sites in Venezuela" like the rest of the googles (except google.com). It only has two options: "search the web" and "search sites in spanish".
BUT! naughty.gif

what about this?:

google.co.ve

Isn´t it weird that there is a google.co.ve site for google?
And also it has the "search sites in venezuela" option, that the "original" google.com.ve doesn´t have.

Does anybody know why is this? huh.gif

Thanks! thumbup1.gif

It takes time. Google Australia launched without the "Australian Sites" bit, but it came up in time. Have patience, and it will probably happen eventually.

nope, I haven´t.
It´s not something that disturbs me or something, but I was just curious.

google.co.ve and
google.com.ve

strange

what does that .co mean? huh.gif

Hi Emo,
I've noticed such things in the first launch of google.co.il - This is google doorway to surfers from Israel.
So...

The CO usually appears in local .com domains. I believe you can find .co.uk etc. as well - so I don't think it's weird at all but rather very common.

Any way one more word about google.co.XX domains, I've noticed throughout the last few months, that google.co.il often has different listings and ranks to certain sites. It might differ from Rank #1 for specific KW in .co.il domain while having no rank at all for that same KW in google.com listings. This cases usually even up in a matter of a week or two, but even then in most cases it is not rare to find a site located #3 at .com and #1 on the local .co.XX for the exact same KW.

That's about all I have to share about this matter.
Have a nice weekend ya'll

google.co.ve

Each country-based tld (top level domain) decides what second level domains it will use.
Some countries choose .com.xx and some choose .co.xx (equally, some choose edu.xx and some choose .ac.xx).
It would seem that .ve has chosen to provide both .co.ve and .com.ve. Strange, but their choice.
Given that both are available, I would expect google to buy both google.co.ve and google.com.ve to protect their brandname, if nothing else.
Google didn't make this choice, the .ve controllers did.

It's the same with google Quebec (French canada), it allows you to search for all pages, all francophone pages (mostly from France), and all pages from Canada. There's no way to limit it to Quebec (french-canadian) pages.
