I don't know if others use this search technique but I commonly do a fairly generic search in Google such as 'generic widgets' and then immediately do a "Search within results" search for 'skyblue pink'. So while I have done it in two steps I have in essence searched on 'generic widgets + skyblue pink'.

My question is how will this search show up in Wordtracker's results?

1. will it show up as two distinct searches one for the items on each side of the "+"?
2. will it show up as two searches the first for 'generic widgets' and the second for the entire search -- both terms?
3 will it show up as one four word search term?
or
4. some combination I haven't even thought of?

"Search within results" effectively combines all the search terms into one.

Wordtracker wouldn't show results, unless the exact phrase had enough searches to make it onto their radar. (#3)

Wordtracker doesn't get any of their data from Google, though.

Your point is valid about WT not using Google results. Too bad because that is what we are all optimizing for and it would be nice to think that we were really researching the database we wish to appear in.

With the point about Google the entire question in now academic, but I would have guessed option #2. I see this as two distinct searches the first one for 'generic widgets' and the second for all four words.

As far as appearing on WT's radar the term doesn't have to be searched on very often to make it.
