I just got a new client that was previously having his SEO done by a webmaster that had better never show his face on my doorstep because he has got to be the biggest idiot on the planet. (That's saying something!)

This company was willing to throw him whatever he wanted (office with a view, assistants, computer equipment, software, etc.) and all they asked is that he properly advice and manage their web marketing campaign.

So this guy buys over a hundred domains, setups up some cloaking and precedes to probably do everything wrong that someone can do in this position. He manages to get them rankings but of course they're always fluctuating because of the up and down nature of cloaking. About two months ago, they have a falling out and the guy walks leaving them holding the bag.

Now, this company is on my doorstep...angry, confused and thinking a whole lot of not nice things about SEO. Man, am I pissed. I hate, hate, hate people that do companies this kind of disservice. Not only that I have twice the miles to run now because this jerk burned them bad. I've only had this client a week but I can already tell this is going to be a hugh pain to unravel.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Okay, I feel better now.

Hey K.S. I thought this would fit better in the seo no-no's forum and have moved it accordingly.

Hope you charged this client a lot more to clean up the mess.

Our own, Matt B., was part of a great session at the last SES conference where he talked about this very subject. Perhaps he'll have a few words of wisdom for you!

I think eventually, my newsletter will be running an article based on that session too.

Jill, the link you posted generates an error for me:
