Hi All

I use Actinic e-commerce software on my site and I was wondering if anyone one had any experience on optimising actinic sites and how realistic is it to get an Actinic generated site ranking high on google and others.

Are there any specific techniques to use with Actinic sites as far as a holistic approach to marketing the site.

Any help would be useful.

Thanks

Ian

I've never used Actinic myself Ian, however I understand from others who have that it is quite SEO-able.

I believe there are a couple of people around here who have hands on experience with this shopping cart. Hopefully they'll join in and provide us with some details.

We use actinic on our site which is fairly good for seo but I believe needs a helping hand to get good results. Have you used developer for your site?

We are in the process of optimizing the site which is currently set up as
www.domainname.com/acatalog where you choose a section to start shopping

It will now be www.domianname.com/optimized-page then proceed to the actinic shopping cart from the optimized page.

The rest is the same as everybody else’s sites title and links etc.

I have an adult store client in the top 5 built in actinic. It is fine, just have to lay it out right, and make use of what you have available.

Hi Thomas and OWG

How much optimising was required for this store, I ask because I am trying to decide if I can do it myself or get one of you guys to do it for me. (please don't all rush at once or I'll think you have nothing better to do than to leap on us poor old webmasters).

Thanks for your input

No not just the front page what I mean is that our sections might be

front page www.widgets.com "We sell all kinds of widgets"

www.widgets.com/red-widgets.html optimized for red widgets and everything about red widgets.

www.widgets.com/blue-widgets.htm optimized for blue widgets and everything about blue widgets.

Customer decides blue widgets for me please from the blue-widgets.htm and clicks to www.widgets.com/acatolog/blue-widgets.html to buy the blue widgets.

Hi Thomas

In answer to your question re actinic, yes I have used developer for my site, does this make a difference to using catalog?

What are the benefits of having an SEO report done on my site and what are the costs? can anyone advise.

Thanks

Ian

It is time more than work I guess, just like everything else. The store was Ok and it was selling a little, but it just wasn't doing what it should as the bulk of sales were coming from adwords.

It took a little while to get there (about 4 months), and was a combination of restructure of directories, navigation, all the usual on page stuff, and link building.
