I saw this code on a website and I don't remember ever seeing it before. Can anyone help me?

<meta name="hidden content" content="wont put the keyword in here, i guess">

What is "hidden content"? I haven't seen this one discussed anywhere.

LOL Deb-

That is a useless attempt to add more keywords to the <head> section. The webmaster probably read that somewhere and added it in- totally useless!

So stupid, the things people will do to get high rankings w/out checking them out first. Wasting all that time for something that is apparently useless without finding out WHY you are doing it...I just don't get it.

Oh, well, now I know. Thanks, Scottie!

:lol:

hehehe...I think it's just a joke. Pretty cute.

There's the one where people put in <meta name="first place ranking" content="my keywords here">

It's really just to fool others into thinking they're doing something special.

The folks in question have a bunch of "tags" in there that I have never heard of. Again, even if it is a joke, seems like a big waste of time.

Quite frankly, Jill, the site I'm referring to should REALLY concentrate less on joking around and get their ugly site rehauled (I hate black backgrounds w/blue and red text--ugly, ugly, ugly! :lol: )!

I always put this tag in my pages
<meta name="spider food here" content="@@@">

Spiders love ampersands.

b.

p.s. don't give them too many or they will get sleepy, lay around your index page and won't catalogue your entire site...

Feeding the spiders... very cute. :lol:

Jill, I think the proper tag is:

<meta name="rank" content="1">

Actually you can create any kind of meta tags as long as you respect the form
<meta name="" content="">

but now most search engines are not looking at meta tags ( at least the major ones I heard) or is it only the keywords meta tag ?

So I guess this is only to send you on a long rehaul of your site adding their meta tag.

Seems like the only important meta tag anymore is the meta description tag for those crawlers that still read them. The keyword meta tag is pretty useless with the exception of placing misspelled keywords in them if one wants to target those. I have heard that sometimes pages may rank good for misspelled words placed in the keyword meta tag as long as others aren't doing the same thing.

Other than these are there really any that matter in regards to SEO anymore?

Yup, The only META tags I find useful are the description and re-direct.

+plus sometimes that one that makes pages blend into one another.... but only on personal homepage with a big Comic Sans H1 title and a picture of me Gran. thats what I'm talking out :D mint!!!
