I have 2 different websites. I sell rap/hip hop beats on both of them.
I only have tried to get traffic to one of them so far. After I learn with one, then I'll go on to the other.
My question is simple. I've read a bunch of stuff about SEO for the last couple months. I'm now ready to start optimizing my site. The first thing I need to do is decide what keyphrase to pick, right?
OK, I did the free trial at wordtracker and found this:
No. Keyword-----------------KEI Analysis---------Competing
1 "rap instrumental beats"-----120.125-----------------8
2 "rap beats"-------------------- 55.868---------------- 1879
I've narrowed it down to these 2 phrases.
The KEI is higher for "rap instumental beats" because of the competition is low, right?
But should I try to write paragraphs about 250 words with a 3 word phrase?
I could make my page look better if I used just "rap beats" though.
What do you guys think? I just want to at least start out on the right foot ya know?
Thanks for your time,

You should be able to write a page using both of those phrases, I would imagine as they are related.
Don't put too much stock in KEI. Read some of the other threads in the keyword research forum and you'll get a better idea of how to choose keyword phrases, etc.
P.S. when you get enough posts under your belt, feel free to post it in the site review forum.

I'd say go after both of 'em and step all over the competition. Neither phrase is so competitive that it should scare you off.

I'll read up on more.
I'm just very eager to learn and thought I'd see what you guys thought.

Yes 'Security Awareness Training' covers 'Security Awareness'
It does cover it because they are in the right order and not separated by other words.
Even separated by other words it would cover it but with less impact.
Like it also covers 'Security Training' but with less impact.

I have had some rankings with the site I work on. F'rinstance, for widget parts and accessories I might see my site come up as #456 for widget parts, #29 for widget accessories and #3 for widget parts and accessories. Google is a lot more consistent, thank goodness!

I would not worry about either the KEI or the number of competitors, but about the traffic each phrase gets and how well optimized the top ten results are for each phrase.
