How do you get your domain name to show in a reverse lookup. Like when googlebot visits the log shows crawlerXX.google.com in the log. I am running a dns server on our network now for one of our server domains and would like computers on the network to be shown as XXXXX.domainname.com. Is this possible?

You have to have the ability (and authority) to set a PTR record for the IP number you're running on. Normally you won't have this authority if you're running some type of home network.
If you're hosting through some sort of colocation set up with a dedicated server it's typically just a matter sending in a trouble ticket to have your host configure a PTR for you that names the hostname of your server.
You can attempt to set up a PTR in your local DNS and then check it with something like this Remote DNS Lookup tool, but it's like still going to track back to your ISP. They don't change those for you unless you're paying for business hosting.

Hi,
Do you mean a sub-domain? If so you need to add an "A" Zone record e.g home.discountdomainsuk.com

I have the sub-domain area down. I was looking to having my IP for each desktop report as an IP from our domain. I figured it out but I will have to work with my ISP.
