I am building an all Flash web site but am concerned about search engine visibility.
If,for example, within the HTML document that has the Flash movie embedded I were to insert body copy the same color as the backgroundg of the HTML document, would this help visibilty? Has this ever been tried? Is it allowed?
Thank you for your time.

I think this will get you in trouble sooner or later. Why don't you consider putting visible copy?
An alternate and (I guess better) solution is to use a <noembed> tag and put in your optimized copy in it. Also, don't forget to write good keyword rich title, and description for the page and you should be doing fine!
Hope this helps!

This way, the text is visible, spiderable, and available to those who don't have flash, but people who do will watch the pop-up version.

How does this help?
You can create a very basic website in XML, like any normal website, and do all the optimization as normal. An unformatted text, no-thrills website like just like back in the olden days
The XML site can be used as a backend for the Flash movie.
How you get the XML pages spidered is for someone else to answer.
You could, on the other hand, just create an HTML website as an alternative to the flash site if you've got the time and can be bothered, but thats up to you.
