It is not often that an honour such as this is bestowed upon a forum, but an (in)famous SEO company who are written in about very often, have recently ranked the highrankings forum number one:
QUOTE

22. What is the "One Sided SEO Forum" Scam?
...The Internet is littered with deceitful, one sided SEO forums that actively promote themselves or their affiliates by using their forums to recruit SEO sales leads...
In our opinion, some of the worst offenders of the "One Sided SEO Forum" scam are:
highrankings
ihelpyou
jimworld
markcarey
seo-guy

That's right BABY!! WE'RE NUMBER ONE!!!

"So highrankings, now your number one, what are you gonna do?"
"We're going to Disneyland..."

Seriously though, why aren't Frequently Asked Questions, well, Frequently Asked? Has anyone, ever, in the history of hiring SEM/O firms ever asked: "What is the "One Sided SEO Forum" Scam?" And I do mean ever, even once. IMHO that is the bare minimum such that a question would qualify as an AQ (Asked Question). To step up a ranking, to "frequently", the required number of askings would surely be even higher than once.

Well, whatever, WE'RE NUMBER ONE!!!!!!

I think you're on to somthing there, projectphp. We just don't see enough infrequently asked questions sections on web sites.

www.traffic-power-search-engine-placement.com/faq.html

That's the way traffic-power-search-engine-placement, whew...had a hard time getting past all those hypens then......are they just so dumb to proved their own ignorance, and even to what Yahoo themselves warned "I would be very careful using many hyphens within a domain name". These people are just not real bright.

I only just noticed that Google has stripped them of all PageRank....hopefully rankings also. I also notice that our friends Traffic Power and suddenly used all their alias over the top of their domain in some sort of effort to keep going. They just won't take it lieing down will they?

It's really sad that TP would condemn this forum. I am a newbie but have learned more from this forum over the last couple of weeks than I've learned in the last 4 years of "trial-and-error" SEO.

By the way, TP has a very aggressive telephone marketing scheme. They call me all the time. Thank goodness for caller ID. As soon as I see it is them I let the call go to voice mail. lol.gif

TP condemns it Jewels because it can't stand the truth against it. No doubt their phone campaign is about to get alot more annoying for those in their range....with all the lost business now they've been caught...

I'm with juliesjewels on this, the 10 days or so I've lurked/unlurked through here I've picked up more on how SE's work and site promotion/optimization than I've learned on my own since putting up my first site back in 1997.

For the record to any other lurkers out there:
Not once have any of the 'regulars' here tried to solicit me to use their services. thumbup1.gif

Welcome juliesjewels and knight01! bye1.gif

You know what? It never even occured to me to solicit people on here directly, and I suspect the same is for many of the rest of us (esp the mods), so I never thought about putting anyone's fears of forum spam to rest.

This is not to say that there are not any other lurkers out there that might, but I'm pretty sure the regulars are too busy for that stuff - not to mention the fact that people annoying other forum members are not looked fondly upon here. wink.gif

I have got clients through this site, but they have always contacted me first, and as far as I know, the same applies to all the other regulars, too.

So feel free to come on in, everyone! If you have a question, there is a really good chance that many of the other 3000 lurkers out there will have the same one, and we can't help you if we don't know what the problem is! smile.gif

I wouldn't get too excited there, PHP, looks like they just listed the forums in alphabetical order!

As to soliciting services...that's just amusing. There's nothing we'd like better than for the people on this forum to do their OWN seo. That's why it's here!

Is it me or do they walk a VERY thin line with slander and libel? The malicious publication of an FAQ with intent to discredit those that disputed their tactics as unethical and damaging to TP's clients? (which was proven)

Its rather sad that websites like that exist. Wish there was more control on what you can write in cyberspace.

Really? Oh, shucks, and here I was thinking I was part of the most "deceitful" forum on the interent. Next thing you'll tell me there is no such thing as "the "One Sided SEO Forum" Scam", and after that probably that Santa Claus isn't real. wink.gif

I love how it becomes a "scam" suddenly...

(imaginary conversation)

HR Forum: Here is a list of things that are bad for your visitors and your rankings

TP: Wait! We do all that stuff! You must have started your forum for no purpose other than trashing us and promoting yourself!

HR Forum: Oh, look - reputable third party and first hand reports that almost all their clients have lost listings and are suing them...

TP: There! See? Proof they are tricking and deceiving people into not liking us. I know, lets invent a frequently asked question that no one has actually ever asked and try to "educate the public" about how wonderful we are and how evil people with ethics are. That will show everyone where we stand on deceit....

Santa is real p.PHP. He has to be. I just saw him on the local public access channel yesterday.

(Please don't ask me why they're showing a rerun from last Christmas because I have no clue. lol.gif )

Ian, a guy at SES tonight shared a story about a recent phone conversation he had with TP. He specifically asked them about the negative comments he's seen in online forums, to which they responded with something like: Those are competitors trashing us.
