Since the description of this forum reads as follows ...
Obtaining free publicity is a great way to market your business and establish credibility. Ask your PR questions or post your publicity tips and tricks.
... We thought it would be of some value to you to post the following, whereby you could see (actually hear) how powerful an audio interview can be!
Here's some food for thought ... What if you provided an audio interview for your potential customers/clients to listen to when they first arrive at your Website? Would it help your credibility factor? Your trust factor? Your like-ability factor?
Well, read on and listen in and we're sure the answers to those questions may become a bit more clear for you.
A little over a week ago we were asked by our good friend Mark Ungvarsky (publisher of "The Naked Truth About Marketing Newsletter" < http://www.nakedtrutham.com/ >) if we'd like to give him our feedback for an audio interview that he had just finished with Karon Thackston < http://www.highranki...php?showuser=12 >.
Of course the answer was going to be yes, as we certainly enjoy all things audio and especially if they are with people we know or know of, such as Karon.
While we have never actually met Karon or spoken with her on the phone, we have dialoged with her here and on other public forums and we have also read many of her articles over the last few years.
In fact, our first public dialog with Karon included an SEO challenge we put forth for her and all of the other SEO copywriters that would read the thread and wanted to participate.
If you are interested in reading it just visit the pages below ...
• Tah Dah!! OK, I took Sharon & Roy's challenge (see below). Check it out guys & gals! #1 for the keyphrase mentioned.
• Congratulations Karon! -- 8 Days to a #1 Ranking on Google - 04/08/03 to 04/16/03
Keep in mind that Karon's site has changed and it is now < http://www.marketingwords.com/ > so if you are looking to see where her pages rank today, look for that domain.

Needless to say, our feedback for Mark wasn't anything brief, such as a ... "Yeah Mark, I liked it, I'll give it a 9 because it has a good beat and it is easy to dance to." ... type of reply. <WINK>
Having listened to the interview and then putting pen to paper, er, ugh, I mean fingers to keyboard, I decided to write just was I was feeling about Karon in light of her conversation with Mark.
After sending Mark the feedback a few days ago, I decided that it would be a good idea to share the feedback here (since Karon moderates the Online Copywriting Techniques Forum) and the interview with you all to see if you might feel the same way or not and to spark a discussion about audio interviews and its power to influence.
Here is my feedback for Mark. A link to the listen to Karon's interview follows.
I was hoping you might listen to my interview of Karon Thackston and give me your feedback?
Let me know what you think.

Mark, in a word ... Simply AWESOME ... Okay, so that was 2 words, LOL
A wonderful job, Mark.
I just LOVE audio as you know ... Or maybe you don't know, because I do not remember if I told you that rather than read our newsletters and articles and Web copy, we LISTEN to them on our Text-to-Speech Reader < http://www.readplease.com/ > and while it is the next best thing to an actual audio article/interview, it isn't the actual voice(s) and their personalities, so that is what makes audio interviews so special for me personally as I am sure it does for everyone else as well.
On a related note I would LOVE to see the "article bank" sites make a special section for audio articles and audio interviews.
I made mention of the fact that it is so difficult to find all of the audio interviews and teleseminars that have been recorded over the last few years that publishers would be more than happy to share with anyone who wanted to listen.
So I mentioned to Mark that maybe we should start a free service to unite audio files with those who'd love to hear them.
ATTENTION NEWSLETTER PUBLISHERS: So in light of that, if any of you would like to publish a blurb about Karon's interview and allow your subscribers to hear her wonderful interview with Mark, so that more people could enjoy her wonderful persona/personality and know where to turn when they need a Web/SEO copywriter, please feel free to do so!
Now, back to giving you feedback about your audio interview with Karon.
I've known "of" Karon for years now, and I've known what she looks like for the same amount of time, so it was GREAT for me to put all that with a voice and a personality and her persona. I am now as complete as I can be without actually meeting her in person and that for me is TERRIFIC, since I am a people person and know that NETWORKING, whether it be personal or business is now in place for me to REFER her as a business contact to anyone who needs/wants a copywriter and not just a copywriter but one who understands Web copy and who understands SEO.
Personally, I know that since we (Sharon and I) have dialoged with Karon on public forums that she is aware of us and therefore knows us in that capacity only, and the same was true for me before the interview, but now I have a deeper insight to whom Karon is and a deeper connection with her as well.
So what does that mean?
Well, I can now have a more secure feeling of trust that I will be doing the write (and no that is not a misspelling) thing when I recommend her service to our clients.
Yes, I could have gained the same sense of trust if I would have simply spoken to her on the phone about the same or similar issues and if I'd asked her the same or similar questions, but the problem with that scenario is that I didn't know what issues or questions to talk about in the first place, but once I had heard the interview, I know that I am now "more" confident about her than I would have been if I would have just "winged" it on the phone with her to get a read on her ability to serve our clients.
Making a referral is a reflection back on you, so if we make a bad referral, then that's a bad reflection on us and conversely, if we make a great referral, then that's a great reflection on us ... So Mark, I am here to let you know that as the host you have allowed Karon to sell herself in such a way that I'm sold on her.
That all happened in the span of about 30 minutes for me. If it did the same for others who heard your interview, then you can see what a demand there is to provide great audio information for those who are ready to hear it.
In other words, how many people do you think will now start to refer Karon and how many people will want to hire Karon?
Mark, you made this happen for Karon and you made it happen for all of the folks who need/want a copywriter like Karon.
As the host, when you provide excellent resources for your listeners, it becomes a win-win-win situation.
Then to add some perspective from were I sit, let me say that I would not have had any more trust for and confidence of Karon's ability as an SEO copywriter, than if I would have heard her on Oprah.
As the host, you did a wonderful job of allowing me to meet Karon and to get to know her in such a way that I am ready to refer her and her services. Notice that I said her first, and her service second.
While I "could" recommend Karon's service even if I didn't care for her or like her personality/persona, I wouldn't.
I strongly believe that ...
If all things are equal that people will do business with people they know, like and trust.
.... And I also believe that ...
If all things are not equal that people will still do business with people they know, like and trust.
The point here is this ... If I know of someone who processes better SEO copywriting skills than Karon does and even if they charge less than Karon does and even if they would complete projects faster than Karon does, I would not recommend them if I didn't like their personality/persona.
I believe that I am not alone on this issue.
The entire interview had me "tuned in" and "tuned on" to what was being discussed. In other words, there were no boring moments for me such as where I wanted to fast forward past them.
A successful and productive interview, Mark, you should be proud.
