Google has just updated and changed the BL We are surprised to see that it is has double the BL of all our sites. Now in BL it is showing pages with PR0 PR1,2,3 What is the New move from Google

I have idea that the Back Link theory (PR4) is being removed by google , and now it is counting only theme based and there is no question of PR-0 or more. Question is theme of the page where from you are getting link.

I have seen that some non theme based pages having more PR not counted by google, what you will say ?

Hi Jagan welcome bye1.gif

The PR4 thing is an urban myth, it has never been the case.

I am seeing a lot more PR1 and PR2 pages being reported as backlinks than I used to, though. Also, links from wholly unrelated pages are coming up -- the only thing about those pages that make them relevant is the text near the link.

For the site I watch most closely, the only backlink showing up with link: is its ODP listing. None of the Canadian shopping directories (with lower PR) are showing, nor is the Gimpsy listing.

Is the PR4 thing, or appearance of it, just a symptom of link: being broken?

The depends on how you define "broken". Google continue to say that
QUOTE
The query link:siteURL shows you all the pages that point to that URL.
(http://www.google.co...tures.html#link). That's never been true. Does that mean that it doesn't work, or they've just chosen not to tell users that the operator only returns some of the results they know about?

And when it changes, including pages that they've known about for a long time, does that mean that they've made an alogorithmic change, or that the broken-ness (probably not a word, but you know what I mean) has changed -- it's still broken, but in a different way?

My personal opinion is that they're just messing with our heads a bit. What they show is what they show, but it doesn't necessarily reflect what they know about, or what they count.

I am with qwerty (why to I have to look at the keyboard to type that name lol) Acording to Google, the link: is a throwback from a bygone age, and was never intended to be used as it is currently being used.

I have seen pages with PageRank scores from 0 to 9 in the back links for the last couple of years, so I don't think this is anything new.

A quick check of sites I keep an eye shows me they are still bringing up backlinks from sites that are off topic so again, don't think this has changed much.

But who knows? Perhaps you're seeing something we're not!!

I have lost about sevety percent of my backlinks and PR did not change. I think the links need to be about two months old to show.

Mazsola, have you slipped in the rankings? one of my sites has just picked up 280 links, another apparently only has one link, but they are still where they were before.

Really what google shows publicly and what google knows are two different things. Most of the tie all that alters is what is shown, not what is considered in the algo.

So No Pagerank update only some funny Backlink update smile.gif . So google is out to mess all link mongers, Most of the links showing now are completely randomized, high PR quality backlinks not showing but all silly unrelated low PR backlinks showing, May be someone playing with Backlinks in google database, I feel this is some sort of testing to randomize backlinks, We can expect a Pagerank and an other Backlink update pretty soon,

You guys are too funny.

One says they are only counting relevant links, another only irrelevant links.

In other words, it all means nothing, just like Google wants it to.

Stop looking and get on with your business. Who gives a poo.gif how many links google shows in their link command? It doesn't mean a darn thing! Who cares what your PR is? It also doesn't mean anything.

Though Pagerank doesnt have any direct impact on rankings it is still needed in google, Especially for triggering regular visits by googlebot and also triggering deep crawls, Also you should remember normally many sites have links pointing to the homepage not the innerpages, So link popularity of the inner page is determined by the other inner pages of the site linking to it including the homepage, Pagerank of an innerpage is solely determined by those inner page links so it is important those pages have a good Pagerank too to trigger regular crawl of those pages and the pages links deeper from them,

So i would say Pagerank is not too important but it is not a factor that can be ignored when it comes to google,

eg yesterday I has a site that was PR5 with 68 backlinks, today I have a site with 288 backlinks & PR5 same rankings according to Digital point and Google search.

Anyone remember that Eurovison song contest winner Sandie Shaw I think it was, she sang

'Like a puppet on a string' wink.gif
