We won't discuss specific SEO companies here, however, I would suggest that you take a look at some of the moderator's Websites as they are the only people I'd ever trust in the business if I were looking for someone to optimize a site.
You may want to read some of their posts to get a feel for what they know and how they do business.
The other alternative is to simply read through the info here and in the rest of my site and learn to optimize for yourself. Even if you plan to hire it out, I would suggest that you educate yourself here so that you understand what "good" SEO is all about. Otherwise, you may get tricked by one of the multitude of unscrupulous SEO companies out there who talk a good game.

I'd agree with Brian, in fact I had this very discussion with someone in Opportunity Wales (the E-commerce arm of the WDA) on Friday. I truly believe that as part of their business start up support, they should offer advice on how to choose a company, and how to spot the 'less than ethical' Methods of Search Engine Optimisation/Marketing..
A couple of hours hard reading in this forum should help you to spot the dodgy methods, and after all it is the methods that should be learned, rather than the names of Companies, as a dodgy company can change its name overnight. leopards on the other hand rarely change their spots!
I would also put your site in your signature, as that will allow others to view your site, something that everyone should do, you are among professionals, and people who are trying to better their exposure online. By not having a link in your sig & profile, you could be losing loads of opportunities for building business links.
