Does having different extentions have any ill effects of SEO?

Specifically, I co-developed a site and have the static pages as .SHTML and the db pages are .PHP.

Also, I've heard but don't believe there is any evidence that .html is better than say .SHTML.

I know I could clean up both easy enough, but is it worth the trouble?

Thanks

In my opinion the extentions have no effect in seo.

Simply because what the search engine sees is the displayed result which is interpreted as html.

the thing I read was affecting seo was the ? character to identify parameters / values combinations in asp, php , etc ... pages.

but that's my opinion

can anyone confirm or deny

I am using a mix of .html and .php files and it doesn't seem do make any difference. So I wouldn't worry!

Both the Google and Teoma rep stated, at SES San Jose, that page extensions have no bearing on SE preference, rankings, or spidering ability.
